Has anyone loaded 230gr 45ACP with Vihtavouri 3N37, and get a decent fps on the chrono?
Specifically, I'm trying to setup a load for IPSC major through a 5" 1911. Max load on VV site is 6.6 gr and should be somewhere around 830fps, however i'm not even hitting 700fps @6.6. I'm using campro 230gr bullets, the TC is tight after some tweaking but can't hit the elusive 750fps yet.
I'm using the Hornady lock and load auto charge for measuring, and verifying with another digital scale, I know the grain weight is correct.
I'm using Dominion large primers, as that's all I currently have. I use their small pistol in 9mm and have good results.
I've changed chrono's, because my first one was crap. I'm kind of out of ideas, and a bit baffled at the results so far.
I have some N310, which will work for sure, but wondering if anyone loaded 3N37 with better results.
I'm not really sure I want to up it to 6.8 grains to test, I'm kind of fond of my Sig 1911.
