reloading for the older rimfires

x2 for mystic - he's got, or can get just about everything I've ever needed :p
Henry Nierychlo(Spelling?) on the site uses the same name. He also has good stuff.

A word of caution if you are cutting down miscellaneous blank shells and 22 shells, prior to using them as primers. The priming compound in a 22 long rifle comes about 1/2 way up the inside of the case and I suspect things like Hilti shells are probably similar.

cheers mooncoon

not really the .22 hilti blanks are made by remington cci and winchester(it does not say this on the box it says remington but on the head stamp it has the real maker here the 100 packs are made by cci and the 25 packs are winchester) the priming compound is only in the rim and just a little above the rim not much though i use them in my black powder and bb cap loadings

For the hilti cartridges, they're cheap enough I'd start with the weakest loads and work up - if it starts feeling overly snappy or you're seeing any excess gas leekage, leading, flame etc step back one cap and stay there. It's also something to think about that what seems a reasonable/slightly hot pressure may damage the gun or loosen the components over time.

where is mystic? is that the full name and do they have a website?

He's Mystic Precision on the forum - it's his CGN name.

I would suspect that whoever has the green hiltis might bring in the brown for you if you asked. Especially if you said something like "I'll need ___ hundred rds no matter what; would you mind bringing in some brown blanks so I can try them in my hilti, and no matter what I'll buy from you guys?"

Usually I find if the store is worried about being dicked around they can be reasoned with by showing them that you want to spend money, just need options.

Edit - if you can find a home hardware (not home depot) they're almost always great for ordering random stuff. They stock (or can order) all the crazy stuff needed by any home tinkerer. Acid for bluing, lime for tanning skins, drill rod (depends if there's any available) for various metal work, etc etc etc. As proof, did you know that Home Hardware still carries metallurgical coal in 70lbs bags? :D Not even the store owner knew that, but I got my 490lbs of coal from them one christmas :D :D :D
