And yes I have owned a 710. 3 in fact.

"Hey, I better buy this bolt action, it's so cheap!"
*Shoots the 710*
"Wow. This gun sucks. I better sell it".
*Sells 710*

You'd think he'd learn after the first one. I guess some people are just a little slower...

Throw in a little cuss'n, derogatory words and retarded facial expressions with hand/body postures and you've got yourself a Hip Hop chart topper.

I've handled/shot a few 710's (No I never was stupid enough to actually buy one, but I have run into people at the range that have) And I'd agree with Bigreds assesment. Often accurate enough, but who cares about accuracy when the bolt sticks?

I cannot imagine anyone that has even the slightest amount of knowledge about firearms buying THREE 710's...regardless of post count.

The 710 is a POS, no matter how many you buy.....

The SKS is a military surplus item. It's ingenius because it is so cheap to produce, and so effective for what its purpose is. It is not a commerically made hunting rifle, of which the expectations are higher.

The SKS's trigger isn't that amazing, but it points well and it loads easily. The action is also very simple and reliable.

The SKS is a dirty, POS gun, but it was always meant to be a dirty POS gun from the start.

And we love it because of that.

Now go off and hide Cas. Build up your post count before you try to take on the biggest partition within CGN (apart from the pro gun group, being 99.999% of users on here.)[/QUOTE]

Just what does a post count have to do with having a valid opinion. Does a higher post count make you any smarter?

Obviously not... I've owned 3 in 3 different calibers.. I'm not defending them..I simply started with if you don't or have never owned one.. You have nothing to base it off of..

By the way big red.. I have a little certificate from the Colorado school of trades.. that also helps in my opinion.. more so that your 8000+ posts..

newb or not.

Do you have a diploma in defending junk rifles on the internet? Because if you do, you should have failed.

haha ya.. that's exactly what i got.. at this rate, I'll have 2000 posts and be smart in no time..Not to mention being able to touch something and tell if it's good.. and I spent all that money on schooling..I obviously could have learned so much more from the experts here..

Getting back to your car analogy. Do you really need to take it out for a test drive if the passenger door is stuck, if the trunk pops open when you shut your door, if there's a rust hole in the quarter panel and a pool of oil underneath it?

Who cares if it runs and moves, it's ####. Especially when you go to the next car over - which is the same price - and has none of these obvious flaws?

Why oh why would anyone go to a gun counter and handle a 710, stevens 200, savage package rifle and a mossberg ATR and choose to take the 710 home? Sure it goes 'bang' but it certainly offers the lowest value of all the 'value' guns.

Cas, you are entitled to your opinion. We don't havr to agree with it. Do you have shares in Remington 710 buyer's club?

'I like the 710' is an opinion.

'the 710' is a good gun' is not. It's a demonstrably false statement by virtually any definition of what a 'good' gun is.

Is it too late for you to get some of that money back? 'Cause you got rooked son, absolutely hornswaggled. The most important thing to learn in school is when to talk, and when to shut up and listen.

Bigredd may have partaken of the WSM kool-aid, but he's got more experience with hunting rifles than you and everyone you know put together. I'm sure if you asked him for his experience with these horrid little POS he'd be happy to oblige, and maybe you'd learn something new.

wow. this thread turned into the biggest gong show ive ever seen on the net! all of this from a couple of simple questions?!?!i think this goes to show how we dont have anything better to do sometimes ;0

+1 to bigred's knowledge, me and my buddy have bought lots of stuff from him in the past and never been let down

Well this thread has been productive. This was the first gun i had ever bought and didnt know much about guns at the time. Since then all i have done is read forums, go to gun stores, and shoot with friends. That i s why i wanted to know about resale value, so i could get rid of it and upgrade. It worked for what i used it for, now i want something of better quality. I didnt think this would turn into a heated discussion.
:bangHead:

The 710's an icon :)

Still, I have seen a few in the ee from time to time and it seems they DO sell, so you shouldn't have too many problems getting rid of it. Although you'll probably sell it quicker and/or get a few more bucks for it if you hold onto it till the fall. When hunting season starts to approach, the sporting arms market heats up a bit

Dont spend much time in the off topic section I guess. Check it out, there are a couple threads going on in there right now that beat this one all to hell ;) :D

Sounds like everyone has a comment on the 710... How many of you keyboard experts have actually owned one.. Not the " my best friends ex-roomates , mothers half brother had one and it broke, so I think it's a piece.. but truely owned one. I'll bet 90 percent of the "keyboard experts" have never owned one and are going by what some "other " keyboard expert had to say.

I think the Jaguar is a piece of S**t....although I've never actually owned one.

i own one and i like it alot,it works just fine. it has showed up some of my bud's guns(or i did with it). it works.
