Rem 760 vs. 7600

Wow, blast from the past!
Pumps aren't banned so far, I beleive the 35Whelen's are rare and worth more then most other calibers.
You might want to start a fresh 34 Whelen 7600 thread...

Methinks the big difference between a 760 and a 7600 is in the bolt lugs. The 7600 bolt lockup is apparently simpler and more reliable. I suspect that the real reason for the change, though, is likely because the 7600 was cheaper to make.

No pumps are not on the banned list. Please let me know if you are looking to sell your Whelen.
I should never have sold my 308 that this post was started about. Gave it to him for what I paid for it in 82

very slight differences, if any. I'd go for the 760 as it doesn't have the monte carlo stock that the late model 7600's have. Older style fits better.

My dad has a 760 and I have an early edition 7600 and laying side by side there is no difference other than the scope base holes have different spacing.
there is a huge difference between the two everyone has a comment even if it is wrong
i will be that guy for calling this out
the reason the 760 was discontinued was because the locking system of 9 tiny locking lugs was probmatic they would cause chatter marks inside the reciever on the guide rails and in the bolt recess if shot a lot to the point it would causes malfunction .
also a different attachment system on the forend assembly
the 7600 has 3 large locking lugs more like bolt action rifles stronger bearing surface
10 years as a remington warranty gunsmith
the internet a world of misinformation

I have an unfired 7600 rifle n 35 Whelen, real wood stock and bright bluing. Does anyone if detachable magazine pumps are on the banned lists?
Does anyone have a suggestion for the value of my Whelen?
I have the same rifle, it's lovingly referred to as the Amish Machine Gun lol!

WRT value, IIRC I paid $1200 for mine shipped to me a couple years ago.

It's in VERY good condition (as the photo shows) AND it's in 35 Whelen which is not nearly as common a chambering...

Oh, and it shoots awesome with the 200 grain Hornady Superformance 35 Whelen ammo!

Forgot to say I found a spare mag for it off the EE and carried it for deer last fall.

Cheers
