Rem 783 package rifle on sale for $265

Reviews on the rifle? Good purchase for first hunting rifle?

That's kind of the crowd it's designed for, all the budget priced package rifles are.
The rifle itself is solid, compared to the Savage Axis it has a better trigger, better stock, better recoil pad, better mags, a real recoil lug, both mine are MOA or better rifles as well. The scopes are never real good on these but will work fine if you only get out once or twice a year, or hold you over until you can get something a bit better.
270 or 243 would be a good starting cartridge if you don't like a lot of recoil. 30-06 is tough to beat as an all around cartridge however.

This ^^^^

A buddy who's new to hunting and on a tight budget asked me to keep an eye out for any good deals for him. Plans on hunting 2-3 days a year for deer, only. Contacted him a few minutes ago, he now has a 30-06 in transit!

Thanks Hitzy for the good tip!

nevermind i figured it out. crappy website design. Just picked up 2 in.270. one for me and one for the wife. Can't beat the price. $640 to my door for 2 brand new rifles. Thanks for the heads up.

I bought a .223 from them this morning. Free shipping. It was $305 shipped to Toronto. After putting some quality optics on it she'll be my truck/quad coyote gun.

For me this was a no-brainer and I knew I had to act fast. Waffled between the 30-06 and 300 Win Mag and went 30-06. My only regret is not buying both!

Your Savage barrel nut wrench will fit it too, so you could turn it into a switch barrel in many different chamberings if you take the notion lol.

Sold out already...
Internet isn't good enough at sea to view any Web pages but cgn. I drive past there on my way to and from work. A couple new rifles for 500 bucks would of been mint

I should have got the 300mag to go with my 783 in 30-06 and 7RM.... just to put under the tree for myself. But I literally have no room in the safes.... and no room for more safes lol.

Hitzy
i owe you a range report, (and i think some milk and cookies Mr. Clause!) Just received the shipping notification and can hardly contain my excitement.

Thanks for the heads up!
If its not too much to ask...Any chance you can sniff out an ammo deal?

Great place to shop, i have never had an issue. If the reviews are bad in the service area, most dealers with shop get that.

I am concern is they never reply the feedback left by customers (doesn't matter the good or bad). This is reflect the quality of customer service. Example: LeBaron Outdoor. If something wrong, they are no people care you.
