Rem M7 BUILD

I've shot and loaded the 25-06 quite a bit in the last 15 years. I can't think of any situation where I'd grab one over a 260 or 6.5 Creedmoor

I wouldn't sell my 257Roberts for a 260 or 6.5CM. Most hunters shooting at typical distance wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

OTOH .... If I didn't have the 257, I'd ponder a 6.5CM instead.

I wouldn't be afraid of the barrel life in the 22CM, they make barrels every day of the week! In fact they might be making some right now. Plus, once you have your load development down, and keep range sessions reasonable, some hunting trips every year, how long will it really take to burn out that barrel? Maybe a couple years, so buy two or three barrels at the same time and have them all fitted the same and swap them out as they get well done.

It might even out to some degree with how much cheaper quality 22 bullets are for reloading compared to bigger calibers. So maybe the cost to run 22 creed is not as bad after all. I’m stuck on what caliber to choose for a new bolt action build on an impact action. Already have a 223 build on a bighorn tl3. Debating on 223 again, 308 or maybe a higher powered 22 cal than the 223 offers

The velocity I’ve seen guys post with their 223’s and 75 grain eld match bullets seems to be sufficient. Not hyper speed obviously but atleast in the same ball park as 6.5 and 6 creedmoor.

Standard .22-250, 22" barrel is plenty for a light rifle... should be nice with the heavier bullets.

There you go....best set up. Why go longer than 22" when you absolutely dont need to..... speed? not needed for a 22-250, get the accuracy and they are plenty fast with a 22" barrel.

I look forward to seeing this build come together. As for barrel brand, if it was mine I think I may try a IBI if they offer what you desire.

That action originally sat in an RS stock, which I promptly stole for my dads stainless 260...so a KS is a good fit. I recently spoke with a very helpful guy at IBI and he said they’ll do any custom contour you want for 80-100 premium over their standard contours.
