I have an old Remington 12-A pump action .22 that my father gave me. The hammer doesn't seem to have enough snap to fire a round. I took it apart and cleaned it really well and it fired 5 times in a row and then misfired. The rounds are not defective because I took the misfired ones and fired them in another .22. It leaves a mark on the rim that looks the same as a fired round, just not hard enough to maske it go bang I guess. I'm thinking something to do with the hammer spring being weak. This gun has fired thousands of rounds in its day.
Any help or observations would be appreciated.
