I see Remington is making some LSS rifles to commemmorate the 50th anniversary of the .280 rem cartridge, which I love. They are available only at Premier dealers.
Their web page description says they are extremely light rifles. It's a full-size, long-action rifle with a 24" barrel. I thought the 700 LSS was a 7.5 lb rifle?
Regardless of the weight, I think I need one of these.
Anyone seen one? Remington offers very little in the way of specs.

Is it a "mountain" rifle?
I have a Mountain LSS 700 in 30-06 and love it...albeit the thin barrel heats up real fast

A 7 1/2 pound Mountain rifle? I thought they were supposed to be lite. Great Cal. though.

i was thinking about that Alaskan Ti gun in 280 as well but it's $2000 if i want to spend that much i'll buy a sako

I see WS and SIR have some limited production laminated thumbhole, stainless fluted listed. Kinda cool but don't think there's a 7mm express.

No, it's not a Mountain Rifle. It's the grey laminate, monte-carlo stocked stainless unfluted 24" barrel, just like the 700 LSS that was recently discontinued. I'm just deciding whether I need a second .280. I would kinda like a stainless rifle, and I always wanted a 700........
Check the link in my first post. There's a photo.

a guy could build a custom on a regular steel receiver (4oz heavier) for that kind of money. I dont know what Remington was thinking when they built the AK Ti for the price they charge :puke:

new SPS stainless = $680
sell barrel & stock for around $150 = $530 action
$530 action + $700 custom barrel = $1230
$1230 + $350 Bell & Carlson fiberglass stock = $1580

You'd have just as accurate and light of a rifle, and the extra $500 you could put towards a good scope

well it didnt deter me, in a moment of weakness (I get those often), I ordered one

someone cut my up PAL, and my VISA , please :(

Tod, I think many of us suffer from the same affliction, trouble is a yearly flu shot has no effect on it.
My 700 LSS Commemorative 280 should arrive any day now....:)

Tod,

Thought the new this year LSS MR in 280 would be more your style...

I'll second that rifle. Good thing I'm broke most of the time, it's the one I'd be looking at very closely. Now if I ran into one on the used rack I'd be in deep trouble, again!

got the rifle today - it's beautiful! new Xmark-pro trigger breaks @ 4.5 lbs, but no creep (I'd adjust it lower but cant find a screwdriver to fit the screws in the new triggers). Fit and finish appear to be real good, and the action is pretty smooth.

I mounted some Talley low lightweights and I think I will rob the Burris FFII 3-9x40 off my 221 Fireball for the time being

...now I wait for my Redding dies to show up, I think my first loads will be 154 gr Interlocks over H4831sc
