All 40X's start off as Remington 700's.
There's nothing cutting edge about a 40X. Maybe back in the late 60's they were the talk, but today more nostalgia than anything. I have one and like it, but don't consider it special. Some people just want a 40X and that's enough reason.I took a look and it doesn't seem so special. What's so cutting edge about it?
Here's mine. A classic 40X chambered in 7.62 Nato, original barrel and modified by me for F Class “Farquharson” division. 5 shot 100yds. group posted below seems to prefer 154gr Lapua. Not bad for 1969 Vintage.
