The reason I am looking at the Remmy is the price difference between it and the Ruger. I am from southern ontario and the cheapest 10/22 I can find is in Toronto for $238, I can get a Remmy for $185. I don't plan on modifying the gun at all, just leaving it bare bones, so the amount of aftermarket parts really doesn't matter to me.
Here is a list of stores I've looked at for them. I'm trying to stay within an hour to and hour and a half of Stratford. Let me know if I'm missing any
-Shooterschoice (Waterloo)
-Al Flaherty's (Toronto)
-Gobles (London & Tillsonburg)
-Onatrio Gun Services (Clinton)
-Eli's Guns and Archery (Simcoe)
-Le Baron (Mississauga)
-Lovett's Gun Centre (Kitchener)
-Bass Pro Shops (Vaughn)
-CK Gun Room (London)
are you using plastic mags? i had this issue...I like my 597 but it jams all the time don't matter what kind of ammo i use still jams But my 10/22 i never had a problem with it
I'm looking to buy a Remington 597 in 22LR, but it seems everywhere I call they tell me they don't carry these guns because they cause problems.
I'll be playing around with it more, when I can get some different types of ammo. Then we'll see what it likes. Overall I like it, except for the mag issues and ammo sensitivity.
How do you find it with Remington ammo?![]()
I picked up a 597 a few weeks ago and have put about 500 rounds thru it so far. I tried winchester - xperts, Dynapoints, wildcats, CCI blazers & CCI velocitors. The CCI blazers worked the best with 0 jams and the dynapoints were 2nd best (about 1 every 20). The velocitors feed ok but I still got spent shells jamming on me. The blazers, velocitors and dynapoints make one ragged hole at 50 yards about a loonie sized. The only thing done to the gun is polished up hammer and floated barrel.
What did you use to polish the hammer? When I got it home I immediately took it apart to see how it worked and thought that by polishing that part it would improve trigger pull, does it?
