OK, here goes. I had a guy bring me a 597 to fix. It was missing the extractor and spring. From what I could figure out, the bolt closed on a jam, and the extractor became unhooked and it and the spring took off for parts unknown. I contact Brownells and order one of each. They have two types of extractor, an OEM and another make. I order the other make. A day or so later I get an email from them, the other make is not approved for export. I order the OEM one, which is approved. Unbeknownst to me they've already sent the spring. A while later I receive two identical boxes in he mail. Both are about 6 inches square. On contains a tiny spring and bubble wrap. It was $21 to mail. The other contains a tiny extractor and bubble wrap. It also cost $21 to mail. Both parts could be covered by a dime and would have easily fit in an envelope. So I spent $42 on postage for $8.00 worth of parts. I freakin' lose it. I call Brownells, and in my politest voice I explain the situation. They refund $21. I'm OK with that, and that's my 597 extractor story.
