Just bought this rifle yesterday. I always wanted a nice long action rifle, and the Remington 700 BDL Custom Deluxe in .270 Win. fits the bill. I was amazing suprised on how light it was when I first picked it up. 1/3 the weight of my M700P, and half the weight of my M14. I can effortly balance this rifle with my pinky finger.

I bought this rifle for target/plinking. I'm not much of a hunter, but I love long range target shooting. I generally use my M14S and M700P, but they're short action .308's, finally I got a sweet long action heavy hitter.

This rifle was made flawlessly. The high-gloss walnut stock is amazing and complements the high-rich blued finish to a T. Right out of the box, accuracy was unmatched. I was prepared to make several windage and elevation adjustments but that wasn't the case. I cleaned it before the range session and noticed barrel fowling, so I'm assuming it was sighted in at the factory:cool: I was thrilled with it's performance and accuracy right out of the box. 50 yard bench rest groupings where extremly tight with it's open rifled sights. The trigger is more heavier than I'm use to, it's set at around 9 lbs (as apposed to 2.5 lbs) I love the feeling of the power from the .270 Win...big difference from .308 Win. I cant wait for the summer so I can go up north and do some 100/200 yard target shooting. I give this rifle a full 10 out of 10 in quality, accuracy, price, craftsmanship, and an over all kick-a*s hunting/target rifle :dancingbanana:

Great looking gun and nice results...

Where did you get it, was it in stock on the shelf or special order with a long wait?

Did they have more than one ?

What was the price out the door?....how was the customer service ?

I bought it at Le Barons. It was the last .270 they had, althought they have many more chambered in .30-06. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes :) It was only $813.58, with my club card I think I paid about $900 out the door. Well worth the price for the quality of rifle, and am very happy with my purchase

the BDL isnt common anymore in this day of synthetic and stainless hunting rifles. I loved the feel of my BDL 8mm Rem Mag, felt good, real good. Looks like yours is gonna be a good shooter!

Very nice gun!nice shooter also.I love the walnut. My first rifle was/is a 700BDL.The bolt is on the other side though.BN in 1983 paid $525.00.I also noticed the checkering on your rifle is a little different than mine.:)

Rem 700 BDL

You got yourself the finnest rifle ever made in my eyes for the money, I bought one New in 30.06 for my son's 14 birthday, he shot a buck with his friend at 250 yards first time out I was not with him he never hunted again guess killing an animal was not for him sad day for me as I was so looking forward to hunt with him.
I took his gun out od safe after 25 years of not using it, and here is group with same shell you used but in 30.06http://
Here is load with 168g SMK at 100 and 300 at 300 the bottom group was with Nosler BT 165 gr http://
if you ever find the 700 in the heavy varmint don't pass on it they really shoot, here is my brother taget shooting my 700 in 222 hv at shoot in Jan 26 at EOHC shoot 10 shots in under 3 minutes no back rst fronbt only
http://
Here is photo's of my sons gun almost a nice as yours
http://http://
The shells you fired clean them up and neck size only with some quality bullets and watch your groups shrink. good luck you have a gun for a life time and more, look after it clean barel with Hoppes or Shooter choice a few scrubs with copper brush and it will shoot, yhe only thing I might suggest is do this to ithttp://
Here is 100 yard 3 shot group with 168gr MK I fired a five shot after under 1/2" these guns are just plain awsome
Good luck http://

Yes, I certainly have had good success with Remington 700 rifles. I have a M700 SSDM in 30-06 that is a true dream to work with. Anything I put through it shoots nice little groups, bullets from 150-200 grains. My M700 Classic in 300 Savage shoots so well I would consider taking it to a match sometime.
My M700 CDL in 270 is likewise a real hummer, and is the rifle I have made my longest successful shot with at game. I like the 700 Remingtons, particularly the Classics and CDLs. Regards, Eagleye

I have one...well actually it belongs to my father...in .223. I have yet to start reloading, but when I do I'll start developing a load for her. I need to bed her down nice and snug too. :D

manitou210 what type of bedding compound did you use? Did you shave off a bit of wood where you placed the bedding? Very nice looking job! :)

remington 700 BDL

I picked one up at a gun show myself about year and a half ago.It is also .270 Win., made up a starting load ( 47 grains of Hodsgons 4350 -CCI 200 primer and Speer 150 grain pointed soft point boattail bullet )I am getting half inch groups with this load and the Remington. Mine has the 22 inch barrel , like yours and is a pleasure to carry all day hunting. It shoulders very fast and getting on target is easy. Off hand shooting is a pleasure with this rifle , balance and angle of pistol grip are very well suited to my build.Mine came with a factory recoil pad , but with that tame load I use I don't think it matters . I use to have another .270 rifle that I had for many years ( 33) it was great to use from the bench at the range but it never fit me perfectly , a hunting buddy of mine has a 700 and when I picked it up I knew I would be parting with the other rifle . I often shyed away form bringing the other rifle out to the field with me because unless I was stationed somewhere it always felt like I had to fumble with it to get off a good clean shot . This year I left the Marlin 336 ( 35 rem.) in the case all hunt, and stuck to the model 700 with confidence .good luck and enjoy ...later Joe

Hi Labman quite a bit of wood out I go down below the recoil lug on about 30dg angle and and remove wood so it will be sitting on glass, Accugell is easy to use than liquid accuglass I buy it from Brownells but on wood the accglass liquid is better as it flows into wood crevises better and bonds very good just make sure your wood has no dust take time taping and use release agent

Buy the non flammable

You have to put the glass in hole for action screws, some use allunimum pilers but the accuglass is what I use its strong, and works well.
I am glad Eagleye posted his wicket shooting 700s as I thought fellows might be thinking I was Bull s--t--g I love going to matches and winning the odd time up against HV guns with a regular hunting gun.
If you know a good smith get your trigger worked on it will help, those remington triggers are good if none in your area send it here
http://www.triggersmith.net/ and I hear Denis Sorenson can fine tune a Rem triggers and he is a member on site in BC

If I can be of any help just PM me
Good luck with your BDL

Thanks for the info. I've been mulling over the idea of bedding some of my rifles for some time now, and haven't gotten around to doing it. I have been reading up on it and am pretty sure that I'll soon be giving it a try. If I need some help I might shoot you a PM. :D

A fine rifle chambered in a fine cartridge. I have a .30-06 BDL DM. I love it. Mine was a J-Lock bolt, but that is all removed now. It did not come with the Limbsaver recoil pad, but it has one installed now. It is glass bedded and the factory trigger is set to a crisp 2.5lbs.
