REMINGTON 700 - One of the Best All Around Rifles?

Who hunts coyotes in blowing snow and howling wind.... and long enough to have a trigger freeze up?

Chuck if your going to BS me on your hunting failures, make them believable at least.

Just because your too wimpy to hunt bad weather doesn't mean others don't. I have hunted many coyote tournaments in weather from freeze your nuts off to open sights only cause the snow is blowing so hard it will pack your scope objective lenses gets packed with snow in 15 min.
I have 1 remington. It's a great rifle. It's as 300 LR and is crazy accurate. For a hunting rifle I prefer any of the crf rifles by any manufacturer. My good friend has a cheap remmy sps bought new new around 2010. Real POS

M700 might be one of the most produced production bolt action but saying it's the best is a far cry from the truth

Why would a person not keep the ice and snow out of their rifle actions,,, and prep the trigger to prevent it from freezing up...

Sheeesh,,, pepole need to clue in once in a while...

Yha,,, I'm going hunting in a snow storm,,, maybe I should plan ahead...

I must of got lucky with my Remington last year in the North at -36 to -44c for 1 month solid,,, and this was dragging my rifle in and out of hot cabins,,, vehicles every day along with snow machines,,, quads,,, and side-by-sides...

No trigger freeze up on either of our rifles...

Cheers from the North

I have hunted #### weather. As recently as this morning actually. And I have killed the odd coyote. Even with several model 700's. And I have never had an issue. Never. And if I did, I sure wouldn't blame my good friend, the Remington 700.
I don't take pictures of it lying naked apart on my bed to know what its going to do for me. I look on the walls of my trophy room. And take it out hunting. Without the slightest bit of uncertainty that it will get the job done.

You got that right Don. Well said.

I do like safeties that lock the bolt but it's not a deal breaker, I dislike the Win 70 safety's position, and it's a little light on the detents.

I shot this bull in January.

Das trigger won't freeze up when cleaned & lubed with 12/34, nor will the rest of the action.. guaranteed. ;)

Best send Charles a can?
He seems to struggle a bit, and could obviously use the assistance! ;)
It would go into the pack along with the spare parts and empty Gatorade bottles.

Is it weird that a poster here remembers over ten years of posts of mine on at least three different forums? Or am I worried about something harmless?

When the statements are as ridiculous as yours, they tend to be memorable, Chuck.
You being laughed at by multiple posters and acquaintances is harmless enough?
Perhaps worry about how to keep them triggers from freezing up?

Wish we could share opinions and disagree without the getting personal bull####. I don’t like Remington 700s, but I like many of the posters’ in this thread and enjoy a free country where we can choose our own rifles. And frankly this place would be painfully boring if we all liked one rifle.

Thanks for the Jet Lube idea SS,,, my Pops used plain old kerosene to prevent freeze up on lots of moving parts on equipment and the simple items in the North...

It won't freeze,,, it keeps everything clean and it costs next to nothing in funds... The old timers had it figured out loooooong ago...

The nice thing about using it is there lots of cabins in the North that still have a can or 2 left over from the war years,,, good old Coal Oil lantern oil is found every where up here in the North... Ha

Nothing like using what we have on hand,,, and it's a multi purpose product that can be used on everything and anything...

Life is just that simple...

But yes,,, we've never had a Remington trigger freeze up,,, up here in the far reaches of the North since its wize to think ahead and prevent the ice and freezing snow from accumulating in the rifle actions and triggers...

Why would a person not stuff a spare leather glove between the optic and action to keep the crap out in the first place,,, pretty simple trick since a person can yank it out of there to get the shots off fast,,, and not worry about a iced up frozen action and trigger...

It makes a person wounder if folks know about the dry firing-pin thing and how to go about it with out it gumming up at -57c to -60c less the wind factor...

Some pepole should not be Harvesting predators or hunting in cold temperatures if they don't know what their doing... LOL

Best for them to stay at home and complain on the Internet how their triggers freeze up since they don't know any better... Ha

At least I got time this morning to sharpen up a few flash lights at the table this morning,,, the young folks would never think of this since its and old trick from years gone by... LOL

Cheers from the North
