I'm buying a Remington 700 in 300rum after work today, I'm undecided, a sendero for 1399$, or the lint range fur 860$, I'm looking at doing 1000y this year and hopefully 1 mile next year. Is the sendero really worth nearly twice as much?

I would get the Sendero, hand down. The long range comes with a stock that will need replacing. Also the finish on the SPS models has been pretty poor.

What are you going with for an optic?

I have been researching the sendero a lot lately as I am looking for a HB 7mm. Accuracy reports are favorable, but like most remington rifles, a visual inspection is recommended. On a side note, I decided to go with the tikka hb varmint instead. Of the 2 you mentioned the sendero seems to be the better choice.

The website says that the long range has the bell Carlson stock, is the house precision that much better? I was also told the sendero starts off as a Remington 700 and then goes to the Remington custom shop, any truth to this? As for optics, I would like to get sightron, but if I spend the extra $ on the sendero I may have to use my Bushnell 4.5-14 that I already have to start off with until I gather enough funds for a high end optic, the 14x with 40moa could get me up to around 800y.

Sorry I thinking of the SPS long range.

The HS stock should offer no advantage over the B&C.

With the 300rum your barrel life will be to short to use a "start off optic". If you have to save money on the optic get a Bushnell elite tac 10x40 fixed.

The HS stock is nicer IMO, also stainless vs cheap finish. If you didn't ever plan to upgrade it I'd consider the sendero over the LR. I can't leave things alone so I got the LR and replaced the stock, and bottom metal and a new finish, I'm happy with it...now.

I have tinkeritis as well, which is why if like to save some money on the initial investment, it will become a 338 edge when the barrel burns out. I'll post some pics after I buy it

Got a good friend who just bought the long range in 30-06 and so far it likes the Nosler 175 custom comp bullets. Has done several 5 shot groups now in the 0.4s with a bone stock gun, we haven't even bedded it or worked the XMP trigger yet. We mounted up a 20moa rail and a Razor 5-20 and it is shooting great. Going to run it out to 1000 metres in a few weeks see how it fairs at longer range.

How far can I get with the Bushnell 10-40 with a 20 moa base?

Congrats on the new gun!

It has 80moa of elevation travel.

With a 30moa rail and 230gr berger you should be able to make a mile.

I would go with a 40moa rail and a sightron siii 6-24x50. (On my savage 110ba with a 40moa rail and a siii 6-24 i ended up with 94.5 moa of "up" from my 100 yard zero)

Thanks, I'm just getting into the long range game, longest shot I've made on a deer was 449 yards, so this is going to be a steep learning curve. Nosler has a new 210g accubond LR Bullet with a bc of .730 that I'm looking at trying out. The sightron siii 6-24 would be a very nice piece of glass on top of the rum for sure!

450 yards is still a good ways away so your on the right track.

Have a look into bedding the action. Its a pretty easy job and it should help with consistancy.

A G1 BC of .730 seems a little high for a 210gr. Id have a hard look at the berger 230gr match, not the OTM.

Since they are claiming higher than the Berger 210 and on par with the Berger 230 you gotta wonder. Plus from my experience with testing their accubonds bc claims at distance there is no doubt in my mind about calling B.S.
