Well I just read this:

I dunno that the 5R is really ringin my bell.... Epoxy7, perhaps you would like to make a pitch?
I'm thinkin' that if I don't find something that really get me at the show I'll proabably buy an XCR Compact Tactical.
I consider them to be a fantastic value for what they are. Satin ie bead blasted low glare stainless action and barrel. 5R rifling with a 1:11.25 twist rate which shoots 168 and 175 grain ammo perfectly. 24" barrel so you get the velocity while still being fairly handy. Add in the HS stock with the aluminum bedding block. For $1145 that's really hard to beat. Also these rifles are well known for shooting off the shelf .308 match grade ammo at .5 moa and less in many cases. These things sell themselves.
I bought a HS take off stock from a VSSF (Tan version of the stock that was on the 5R). Cost $330. The cost second hand for a 5R takeoff stock is often closer to $400. I believe they are $500 new.
The idea was to put this stock on a SPS tactical. That was until I did the math. $750 (best price I could find), plus taxes, now add in the $330 for the stock. Almost the exact same price. Only with a blued finished receiver/barrel, and regular rifling. Instead I decided to put the tan stock on my second 5R rifle (haven't shot it yet).
Here's the main reason I recommend this rifle:
Federal Gold medal 168 grain Matchkings : FPS: 2650 (From manufacturers website, so probably 26" barrel)
