Lookiong at picking one of these up in .223, anyone have experience with one?... I have an SPS in .30-06 I use for deer which I really like but have never handled the varmint stock with heavy barrel..... thoughts or experiences?....
Remember the .223 sps varmint has a 1-12 twist. No shooting hevey match bullets for you.
Well.... since I just bought a nice set of Leupold rings and bases for the 700 off of the EE at a good deal I guess I am commited to it.... thanks for the reviews guys..... any glass suggestions?....

You're as bad as me. I have a Nightforce rail for 700 short action and am now looking for a rifle to put it on.....
Almost as evil is having spare scopes laying around......![]()
Try something a little different than usuall.Maybe a little higher end scope, that siutes your eyes, not someonelses.Just a random thought Brad.

Do any of the Hvy bbl Remmy 700's in 223 have a faster twist rate? If so, which ones?
Brad have you looked at any of the nikon scopes?
I think all of the current 700's in 223 are 1-12 except for a tactical one. Another option is buying the regular sps and putting on a new barrel of your choice. A model 7 predator comes 1-9.
I think the 700 long range rig would be nice to see in a fast twist myself.
Which will work fine for varmint bullets.Remember the .223 sps varmint has a 1-12 twist.
