Remington 700 - Why Is Everyone Selling Them??

i see this with sako trgs, you will almost never see one for sale in 308 but there is always a 300 win mag for sale. Reason being, nobody likes to shoot a 300 win mag because it’s loud, expensive to shoot and it hurts.

so when you see a rifle for sale, ask yourself why and the answer is often quite clear.

Never mind the fan boys. I've sold more Savage's then Remington's. Why? Because I've owned more Savage's then Remington's

Not much of an answer? Your right, but I'd only worry about it if you were keeping notes and saw a trend over a year or two. Not saying there isn't a problem with Remington, just saying I haven't had one.
 
well if your experience is like mine... then you may wanna dump it
- bought a 308 heavy barrel 700 and it was as accurate as my 7600 pump 3006 ???
- changed out the pos rem barrel for a shilen match and never looked back... now it shoots decently
i love remingtons but not their barrels... so far !

Don't think it has to due with the cost of shooting 300 win mag, if you hand load it almost the same price as 308 just the cost of the extra powder.
I think is because Remington is just a beginner precision rifle unless you put in the cash to customize it. for the money Savage shoots better and if you are going to put the cash in to a 700 you might as well spend it up front and buy an HS precision HTR!
 
I have three Remingtons ... 2 Titaniums and 1 full cutom XCR ... other than a custom action, REM's are the only ones to own IMO


If you like the feel of pot metal ... savages are sweet !

Remington's will never be made in China... I can just picture shippments of ACR's and M24's for the military coming over from China ... HAHAHAHA ! I would have to imagine a company like savage or Stevens would be far more likely to take their maunfacturing over sea's ... Especially since Savage has already been bankrupt in the past.

Not a bad thing but weatherby had the Mark V's made in Japan for 20 years.

I couldn't care too much for this argument, but just thought I'd add that Japan and China are TWO completely different quality measurements. Often Japan is well and above the rest of the world and most definitely cannot be compared to China.

If you read the comment you would have seen no comparison ... I would not expect someone that would try and compare or put Remington products in the same catagory as chinese products to be observant enough to notice.

Hence the words " not a bad thing " in my previouse post

No they unload them for what they paid for them because they are so good they can. To lose $200 on a CDL is about as bad as it gets. %50 on a savage is pretty normal once you drive it off the lot ... sort of like Hyundia's

Jesus ... coming from a guy with 24 posts , Did one of the guys from Wholesale sports pitch you that line ? ... or maybe someone at canadian tire ?

All those military snipers out there betting their lives on Savages, I seen a sniper on Military channel talking about his M24 getting run over by a fk'n train and still holding zero ! ... All those custom action builders out there copying Remington actions because all the begginer shooter's have been useing them for 60+ years... Bat, Stillar, Peirce, Surgeon, Borden, Rebel ..." HS PRECISION !!! " The names go on forever.

Wish i was ignorant enough to think Savage was the top of the food chain. My shooting bill would be a hell of alot cheaper. As far as factory bolt action rifles go ... Sako and Remington are the only 2 at the top

Hhhmm......ever shoot at Bull Meadow near Halifax or Homestead west of Calgary, or any other noteable long range rifle shooting venue?
If you did, you would observe alot of interesting things. Many different rifle actions present. About equal numbers of Savages and Remingtons too. The rest would be made up from RPAs, PGWs, maybe a Surgeon. What is more important is that custom barrel screwed onto those receivers, followed up with decent triggers and optics. Maybe you are not aware of this huh?
 
Perhaps I can stop this pointless thread by stating that ALL proven factory actions WORK, and they ALL have the same potential for precision, reliability, and durability (in terms of what any of us civilians would do with these rifles). It's meaningless to say that one action is superior because you know that your evidence is either anecdotal, extremely uncommon, or bullsh!t. Get over yourselves and stop defending whatever happens to be in your safe.
 
I have 2 Remington 700's. I love these guns and would never sell either of them. There are lots for sale because there are millions out there. They represent about 30%+ of the bolt guns in circulation. It's kind of like: "why are there so many Honda's for sale?"
