guys buy or build rifles that they think at the time will be just awesome. When they get it they are impressed with it for a while and one day realize it has some undesirable feature. my informal observation is 3 popular shortcomings.
1) short barrel
2) large caliber such as 300 win mag
3) no adjustable cheek piece.
the owner then realizes that he can just sell the rifle to some other naive guy and get most of his money out so he can put the cash toward what he now knows he should have bought in the first place.
i see this with sako trgs, you will almost never see one for sale in 308 but there is always a 300 win mag for sale. Reason being, nobody likes to shoot a 300 win mag because it’s loud, expensive to shoot and it hurts.
so when you see a rifle for sale, ask yourself why and the answer is often quite clear.
LOL so true!!!Remington are the GM of rifles, nothing more to add... JP.
Don't think it has to due with the cost of shooting 300 win mag, if you hand load it almost the same price as 308 just the cost of the extra powder.

And will probably soon also be made in China.
I think is because Remington is just a beginner precision rifle unless you put in the cash to customize it. for the money Savage shoots better and if you are going to put the cash in to a 700 you might as well spend it up front and buy an HS precision HTR!
hahaha ... A worthless statment that has no merit what so ever and means absolutly nothing.
Remington's will never be made in China... I can just picture shippments of ACR's and M24's for the military coming over from China ... HAHAHAHA ! I would have to imagine a company like savage or Stevens would be far more likely to take their maunfacturing over sea's ... Especially since Savage has already been bankrupt in the past.
Not a bad thing but weatherby had the Mark V's made in Japan for 20 years.
I couldn't care too much for this argument, but just thought I'd add that Japan and China are TWO completely different quality measurements. Often Japan is well and above the rest of the world and most definitely cannot be compared to China.
They get them and realize that they don't stand up to the old reliability that remigton built their name on and want to unload them for what they paid for them so they can buy a custom built or Savage rifle LOL

Hhhmm......ever shoot at Bull Meadow near Halifax or Homestead west of Calgary, or any other noteable long range rifle shooting venue?Don't think it has to due with the cost of shooting 300 win mag, if you hand load it almost the same price as 308 just the cost of the extra powder.
