Remington 7400

Should Remington give their head a shake and stop producing this rifle?

OK Dosing, lets see how it fairs
Dosing put you up to this :?:

I think they should scrap the 7400 and stick w/the 7600 in more calibers and options

SC...............

NO

They are good and accurate rifles.

Most of the problems can be atributed to bad mags and bad maintenance.

I've never had a problem with my Model 4 (the deluxe version of the 7400).

RePete.

How about they just design a quality auto-loader that functions. :?
Wait... that would mean they would have to do some research and development... engineering and testing... institute quality control at the manufacturing level... offer a real warranty and back it up with good warranty repair and customer relations............ never gonna happen

You have a good one Pete... I had a 7400 in .270 that worked awesome too... but for every one that works they make one that sucks.
I have seen two brand new ones this year that would not cycle... right out of the box  . Remington Warranty repair is consistently a dissapointment
It is a sorry day when one of the Premier rifle manufacturers in the world makes two repeaters known as a Jerkamatic... and a Jamamatic

Pumps and semis and not in the same league for function issues.

As far a reliability is concerned there IS no comparison. Check the used gun market for pumps and you'll find very few pumps for sale. The semis are plenty out there F/S :D

My 7600 (in 30-06 of course 8) ) is still going strong (1986)..... Best damn deer gun that I have owned. Just cycle it like a man.... Slap da #####! Never jams!!!

My friends have 7400's that are excellent guns. Good maintenance and Ammo are critical :!:

As for Remington's service.... IMHO no better or worse than anybody else.

Reasonable Poll, though who said YOU could run a poll...hunh :p

YES. Nuke the damn thing from the line-up. Make it right, or don't damn well make it.
That whole trigger group and bolt is a joke, I always wondered where the 1972 Pinto engineering team went after working for Ford, and guess it was to Remington.

When they refine the design, clean up thier manufacturing standards, and can make it a 100% rig, then they should bring back an auto-loader to thier lineup...

LMAO
they musta had a whole team of monkeys working around the clock on the 7400

Well, they had millions of returned 742 receivers, so they let the monkeys drive the old Pinto's to the plant and had them hammer on some for a couple of years! Presto...the new and improved Remington Autoloader

As much as I don't like the Jamomatic, the Jerkomatic is a real fine rifle
IMHO!
I don't own one and likely never will, but have worked on more than a few installing recoil pads and such, or loading ammo for them, mostly 06's, .308's and .270's.
I have never seena bad one, and every one that I shot was 1MOA or better.

Like I said , I don't like them but becuase I like other actions, not because I think they are a crappy design.

7400

I just got one in 270 Win. I'm very pleased with it. I've experienced no feed problems of any sort. I find it highly accurate and fun to shoot. I think it a good value.
