Remington 783 Heavy Barrel

Supposed to be going Q1 of '19... their site suggests they are doing preorders now.

I have no connection with this company at this time... might change in the future but just saw the mention and visited the website.

Looks like a decent product.

MDT LSS & Rem 783HB should be arriving this week  took advantage of the wicked MDT sale. First bolt action, going to be a learning experience lol

I got up to the range with my 783 hb .223 monday. I previously free floated the barrel, bedded the recoil lug, and mounted a Nikon M-223 3-12 X42. Should have adjusted the trigger but forgot and left it at factroy setting. time was short and I wanted something for coyote hunting. I shot 3 round groups with the 5 different factroy loads I had on hand. 55 gr sps fed blue box, 55 gr winchester, 55 gr. Sako game head, 62 gr fed fusion, and 69 gr bthp nosler match. the 55 gr sako grouped the best coming in at just under and inch followed by the winchester 55 gr at about an inch. the 55 gr fed blue box woulnd'nt shoot sub 3 inch (Thought it might have been me so I tried again and got the same results) the 69 gr match and 62 gr fusion cam in at about 1.25 to 1.5 inches ( this may have been my fault as by this time I didn't have much feeling in my trigger finger).

I'm happy with the rifle given its price point. but I will be looking into a modifying or replacing the stock as I found it impossible to get a good cheek weld.

I had the same issue, and went with the MDT LSS. It cut my groups in half, and allowed me to get a proper cheek weld on the rifle. There is also boyds stocks as an option if you aren't a chassis kind of fella.

This is mine as it currently sits, thanks to AB student loans its on the chopping block though ovrec

I wanted to get some practice shooting some bulk AE 223 but half weren't firing. They worked fine in the AR. Is there any easy way to make it hit primers harder?

That said, my HB rifle shoots great with hand loads. This is my first rifle with which I was able to print a series of sub-moa groups at 100 yards.

Hmm, this rifle has peaked my interest. I see that Cabela’s has them on sale for $469 now too, might have to stop by the store and check one out.

I see that rem is making a 783 26'' heavy barrel model called a varmint model with lam stock ,, has anyone shot this new model .. perhaps it may be the most accurate 783 to date ,, anyone shot this model yet ? . thoughts on this new model

Nice looking rifle. What the total weight as shown in the pic?

How's the short HB 783 in 6.5cm ? Pretty handy I'm sure but seems like most would want longer barrels for that guy.

Also on the Remington site is a 24" version of the heavy barrel, not much for pics or descriptions so I'd think they are not released yet. My guess would be SHOT for the official launch.

I like shorter than longer barrels in general so eyeing this 6.5cm HB. Have several short .308's and love em, just wondering how the 6.5cm will perform in this length.

Wondering as well. Plus on a side note the Savage 10T for example with the 24" was a weird combination with the light accustock but with the 20" barrel it was a decent match. I suspect with these rifles and that light stock that a 24" would be a mismatch.
