1968 788 - 44 Magnum
22" barrel

You lucky duck! I've been looking for a 788 in 44mag forever. Post pictures?
I have a 788 action that was chambered in 22-250, I was thinking about rebarreling it in 45acp if I never find one in 44mag.

A family friend had a 44mag that was left at our hunt camp for pest control ( 4 and 2 legged :) ). Shot alot of 2 litre pop bottles full of water and pesky porcupine that were eating are out house walls! This was in my teen years, unfortunately the gun disappeared and never been able to find one since, was a great accurate shooting gun, wish they were still made, very thin and sleek through the action, unlike the Ruger bolt 44mag.

Mine's a 7mm-08 carbine. Acquired circa 1995'ish. Original stock was pretty beat up so I dropped it into a new Ramline, back when they came with a Pachmayr decelerator factory installed. Topped with an econo Tasco world class 3.5-10x42mm. Shot so well just as is I haven't changed a thing on 'er since.

I've had 3 788's over the yrs starting with a 223 followed by 44 mag & 7-08. I held onto the 44 mag the longest as it was a sweet little rifle to carry about in the woods. They all shot very well. The one I'd most covet would be the 30-30 version though.
