Remington 870 Police Magnum

My opinion is that this MCS system doesn’t offer any benefit aside the use of a 10” barrel. For what purpose, or task that a 14” barrel can’t handle?
It’s confined to the three specific barrels because of the barrel lug position only to accommodate a 10” barrel. No other REM 870 barrel will mount to that receiver with that length of mag tube, or vice versa.
Every other aspect of that system can be achieved with existing conventional 870 components.
They would have been well served simply manufacturing a 12.5” barrel with the barrel lug in the same position as all other REM barrels.
The MCS system is a solution to a non existent necessity. A bunch of incompatible crap in one package with a sales pitch of “you have to understand the role of a shotgun in the United States military”. Horse pucks!
 
Had the opportunity to hold one of the mcs shotguns. The interchangeable stock/pistol grip didn’t lock up tight and constantly felt loose like it was going to fall off. And I would imagine the more you shot it the looser it would get. Assaid if you wanted to change barrel lengths you had to buy a gun specific barrel. If you wanted short, a dlask 12” barrel would fit any 870 and you would gain a round and have a more rigid setup all around.

Interesting, my MCS is pretty tight with all three stocks. There's less wobble than most AR upper/lower fits.
 
I have an original Remington 870 Police Magnum parkerized from 1990 with 18" barrel bead sight and +2 ext. The wood is plain oiled walnut. A solid shotgun and runs trouble free. I remember paying about 325 dollars and also remember a very sore shoulder after firing 20 rounds 3" magnum buckshot. Build quality ,fit and finish flawless.
 
I have a Remington Police Magnum Synthetic bought about 3 years ago as well . You know I haven’t shot mine either as yet ! Hope it’s a good one !
