Remington 870 Police Max .. feeding issues.

Not necessarily. Maybe the burrs on those chewed up shell rims from repeated dry cycling have something to do with it.

ya i thought about that, so i used new Hornady shells, opened a new box, same issue. They are just a tad shorter then the other ammo i have. The federal and remington are both the same length.

Also sometimes the cheap aluminum based shells will expand in the chamber and bind up and become difficult to eject.

Ill say this, the gun works fine with federal ammo. but, i dont want a gun that cant eat everything. So i sold it and got my 590 back. Ill never leave mossberg again. Even my cheap ass 500 eats everything. Keep you 870P, keep the expensive surefire front end and ghost ring scatter tech sights.

Ill take a mossberg anyday.

Well mine would not. It would not cycle the Hornady Zombie ammo. Federal it cycled fine. Could just have been new gun jitters i dunno. But ill take a mossberg anyday.

I picked up a new 870 Tactical Blackhawk, and also had cycling issues. Every now and then, when I would pump after firing a round, the next round would fail to leave the mag tube. I ordered a "no jam follower", and a stronger mag spring from www.sjhardware.com , and now it cycles beautifully! hope this helps :)

I have a feeling the follower and shell lifter may be the issue with mine, for 1200 bux you shouldnt have issues like that. Even my mossy 500 works flawlessly. Im a mossberg guy from now on.

The S&J follower is a nice peice of gear, that and a new spring fixed my old faithfull wingmaster right up.

At the risk of sounding like a fanboy, I bought TWO (don't buy one, but buy TWO of them) of the S&J Followers from Ellwood Epps in Washago, ON and installed them immediately in my son's Wingmaster and my 870P from Wolverine Supplies. :D

Life is great! Springs are fine, cycling is great even with old Can Tire Ammo given to me from an estate closing/clearance/removal/what-ever. :)

Thanks for all the insight and edumacation about the potential 870 situations!

Cheers,
Barney
