Remington 870 vs Winchester 1300

absolutely love my 1300, best slug gun ever purchased, A couple of buddies and myself tried to see if the Winchester would break one long weekend and pumped through 12 thousand slugs through it. Not even a hiccup and we didn't even clean it. Strength, I'd say it's strong enough for any job it's asked.

There are three main actions for the 870, Express, Wingmaster, Police. I've had three 870 express break, two wingmasters, and have yet to try the Military/Police variant. I will buy a Military/Police variant as I suspect it is equal to the 1300.

I gotta ask... 12,000 slugs in a weekend? Six grand in ammo and three sore shoulders?

I will start off by saying that they are both very durable and reliable shotguns. Almost to close to compare. But they both have their ups and down.

Personally i would prefer ther Winchester but thats just my opinion.

Whats yours?

Fight nice

My opinion is that I'd be too embarrassed to post ever again if I had a -1 trader rating. A guy gave you a free gunstock and you didn't pay the 13 bucks for shipping? Seriously? Dude.... not right... :jerkit:

The plastic one with fiber sight isn't a great comparison.
Also thought the Remington guard was plastic.

Good comments on both,
I'm keeping the Ranger, Rem looks good but won't be buying one.
Would trade a few features from each and combine into one.

Laminate vs. Walnut ,
Stock mates up with the receiver on the 870 nicely,
However do not like the 870 trigger guard shape... 1300 one looks great.

Now this is one I would consider, not sure why I didn't already pick one up.

I own both a Winchester 1300 (Defender) and an 870 Express. The Defender I purchased used, never had ANY problems. The 870 I bought new and I've had jamming issues (difficulty ejecting spent casings) after the first couple hundred rounds. Maybe I just have a dud 870 but I think I'll stick to my Winchester.

This probably goes against the grain, but that's been my experience with my guns.

The Winchester has a rotary bolt which locks into the barrel; the receiver really doesn't see any wear so the aluminum issue really isn't. It also has the advantage of the chokes extending past the muzzle; protects the muzzle and is easier to change chokes in the field without tools.

I've seen 870s with problems, they aren't perfect.

Own two 870 expresses, one 1300 defender (stainless marine), and had a 1300 with nice wood, 26" barrel. The 1300 is faster and smoother for sure. However I've had reliability issues with my 1300 defender. Broken parts, lots of jams with cheaper shells. Sold the long barreled one, as I didnt use it. Never had any issues with my 870 expresses. The 870 is my chosen workhorse for sure. The 1300 is my chosen fun gun. I wouldnt mind having a wooden stocked defender.

lmao....yeah i know:redface:....but what the trading rate doesnt say is that i did pay the guy....more than what the fee was.....he gave me the rating cause i didnt get a chance to pay till a week after i got it.....so.....dont assume stuff bud

The Wingmasters field strip real easy and I have pulled huge gobs of muck and marsh grass out of my old 870. I have decided to try a Browning BPS and see how that goes. Still the Wingmaster will always find a home here. Too many times it could have buggered up and didnt. Was my first gun in the mid 60s brand new. Think I paid $150 for it and beat the crap out of it. Never once failed me.

Let's see now ... 12,000 rounds ... say 6 hours Friday night, all day and night Saturday and all day and night Sunday, non-stop ... 6 hours + 24 hours + 24 hours ... a full weekend of 54 hours ... or 54 x 60 = 3240 minutes.

3240 minutes, divided by 12,000 rounds ( 48 cases) ... that's nearly 4 rounds a minute ( one every 16.2 seconds ) for 54 hours straight !

I think someone's telling stories. :bsFlag:
