The new remmy mauser IS the 798...???
As for the Husky, Husqvarna's receiver is, essentially, the same receiver as the new 798 with a few differences that don't mean much. The husky mauser, however, is no longer made. Same can be said of the FN Mauser sporter - no longer made. Husky, FN, and most of the good, old, sporting mauser makers did make their guns without the charger guide and thumb cut just like the 798, but the 798 improves on them by using a slide safety for lower scope mounting and also is built as a square-bridge which is a cosmetic feature of more expensive custom mauser actions.
Personally, I prefer my Mausers built on old military Oberndorf or DWM receivers (pre-ww1) with thumb cut and all. I also prefer a modern Winchester-style swing safety on the shroud over the slide-safety. HOWEVER, Zastava makes this new mauser in a left handed model - something Husky, FN, Oberndorf, and DWM NEVER did. Remmy hasn;t got it on their site yet, but I'd be shocked if they don;t offer the LH version in limited calibers. To me, that is the real excitement. Getting a LH Mauser action in Canada for a fair, production gun price.
