Hello,
I have been having a discussion with a member who bought a Remington Model 24 in .22lr from me. He seems to think that when you take the rifle down into the two main groups (barrel/handguard and reciever/buttstock), you should be able to adjust the barrel tightness adjustment collar without taking off the front handguard.
I know from disassembling this rifle and doing a complete teardown cleaning that this is impossible as the notch in the front handguard isn't long enough to allow the switch to disengage from the serrations on the adjustment collar. This, in my opinion and from what I have read on my google searches, this is correct. As far as I can see, once you adjust the collar to make the fit between the barrel and the reciever nice and snug, you don't really have to do it again and it would suck if you had to adjust it every time you take the gun down or if the collar could be turned when it is taken down. Can anybody else that has one of these or has had one chime in to let me know how this is supposed to work? I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Ian
