To turn this into a dedicated thread on the Rem Model Seven beyond my initial question below

Anyone built off a Mod Seven, advantages or disadvantages over a regular 700 action?

I have a couple m7 customs and they are good. Better than a 700, not really but still they are good. Triggers, stocks and bases are the only difference I’ve noticed.

Done quite a few ! The M7 is a Shorter overall length action but has a 1/8 bigger load port . Slightly Lighter too .It has the same mag box as a M700 for a 2.800 coal Thereabouts .
The front action screw is hidden -not exposed .

What you thinking of Building . ? RJ

Just kinda tossing the idea around of a Tree Stand/Ground Blind 20” rig. Something light, quick pointing etc that wont be awkward in those types of settings. Maybe a fixed 4x for optics.

It’s the off-season, so started looking into another build for next year.

I have an 18" 7-08 mod 7. It wears a weaver k4. Great stand rifle. My boys use it mostly as its small and light and recoil doesnt beat them up too badly. It is a pretty tiny little rifle. We also have a browning micro maidas in 243 ( wifes hunting rifle) that is tiny light and very agile. I like your way of thinking if a short light carbine. My personal favorite type of hunting rig.

Does that mean the magazine box, spring, and follower are interchangeable between the M7 and M700 SA?

While the M7 aftermarket is less substantial, quality upgrade components are available --- in particular, Wildcat Composites in AB make an M7 pattern ultralight stock that is very solid/stiff. It's a nice upgrade at 18 or so ounces.
