At least, I'm assuming they're made by Pedersoli.
Was on Marstar's site last night (it's blocked at work) and noticed they have the Remington Rider copies in stock. And they're not classified as firearms. :D
Anybody ever handle one of these? All they take is a #11 cap and a lead 17cal ball. For $149 I might just have to have one of these.

Hmm, looks like the pellets are lead B's. Still, with the lead pellet and lead styphanate in the primers, I would not be shooting this indoors.

I took a look at these. The site says they are made by Pedersoli...Im with you on the having to have one. Im curious as to how one loads the lead ball. It sounds like you put it in a little cup that is inserted into the barrel. I wonder if something that small is rifled.

I told a buddy about these last night. His first comment - "I wonder if they have enough energy to kill a grouse?"
:D

Sportee, did you see the lead BBs offered anywhere on their site?

They would have to be under 500 FPS to be not classed a firearm. If they are accurate enough they might kill a grouse.

Cabelas has 4.3mm lead balls listed along with other accessories. Sure wish they published a FPS. Anyone got a scrap 4.3mm barrel lying around?

IIRC Gamo makes a 4.5 mm lead ball that they sell for airgun use. I'd bet that you could drive one down the barrel and it would work. Or a guy could drive them through a sizer.

These are small. The picture on Marstar's site doesn't really show this. Here's one taken from Cabella's. I still may get one for ####s and giggles

Does .17 caliber correspond with a shot size? It says you can't use .177 BBs or pellets.

I found this lead shot size table on the web.
BBB - .190" (4.83mm)
BB - .180" (4.57mm)
1 - .160" (4.06mm)

I looks like BB size shot will work assuming the size is consistant. Maybe as Trev says you could run them through a sizer die. A sack of lead shot would last a very long time.

I thought i might add a clarification on the size of shot. This is taken directly from the Pedersoli website:

"Like the original, the pistol fires a .17 inch (4,3 mm) ball using only a percussion cap and no black powder charge. For short range it is powerful, accurate and fairly quiet, making it suitable for indoor use. A .17" (4,3 mm) lead ball (not compatible with standard ie. '.177' BBs or pellets) is placed into the breech plug small tube (which is capped) inserted against the barrel. The hammer fires a # 11 cap which expels the ball."

Has anyone got ahold of one yet? Im curious about these little buggers.
