Remington Special Run?

This is going nowhere. Someone needs to contact Remington and see what they would consider building first.

1) I doubt they will do anything on a stainless M7 action, as they don't even make that action anymore.

2) Who would be willing to pay over $1000 for a bare Ti action? Cause that's what they would want for it.

3) The best bet is to pick an existing platform (ie. CDL) and have it chambered in our specified cartridge (ie. 284win or 6.5-06).

4) If we deviate too much from a standard platform, they will charge you custom shop prices ( ie. McMillan stocks and Ti actions)

IMO the reason the .303 flew, is because all Ruger had to do was buy the reamer, and build a standard NO.1. Keep it simple, or the prices will be out to lunch.

5) Does anyone trust Remington to not #### this up? :p
 
I really don't think Remington would be willing to chamber a rifle in a wildcat without SAMI specs to go by. So lets keep it a factory round no matter how obscure it may be.

I would jump at a 21" barreled Rem 700 LSS (black/gray laminate) .375" cal cartridge that would give me a top velocity of 2650fps with 260gr Accubonds...

Would never use my 30-06 again... :D

Could just rebarrel my 30-06 though...

If you're talking about the 6.5-06 A-Square, it has SAAMI specs, and factory brass...
 
Remington will never build a special run of anything they do not have 1) a chambering reamer for 2)a barrel they can't just pull off of the shelf 3) a stock they don't already have on the shelf. I.E. look at what they offer, and go from there.

When Clay takes your deposit you state which cal. you want and when he gets enough deposits for a order, it is made.. That is assuming that Remington will go along with that plan and keep the price in line with their present Mountain LSS..

I just had another idea - how about the Model Seven Mannlicher at regular Model Seven prices instead of +$2000 for the custom shop version? They are making Model Sevens and obviously have the tooling to manufacture the Mannlicher stocked version. I think it would sell.

Yes those rifles are beauty's! I got one for a neighbor and I tried it out before I gave it to him. Bad mistake, I keep my eyes open for one all the time now. BUT I want it in the old custom deluxe model with the nicer old style blueing and better machining. In fact I should just keep looking for an old one.
 
Clay, you saw the Maple Stock 7600 in 35 Whelen that i bought. How about a run of Walnut sctocked 7600's in 35 Whelen. You can't get a pump thread or a over 30 caliber thread that everybody laments that they don't have a 35 Whelen pump.

So you want them to sell you a rifle they normally sell for $3000 for what, $899? Good luck on that one...:p
 
How about a 700 stainless xcr, with the black coating, complete with a laminate CDL (boone & crockett IIRC) stock in either an 8mm Rem Mag, .358 Norma Mag. or 9.3x62??
