All I'm asking is please find out if anything went wrong or keep your WORD.. This goes to your staff not Mr.hohn[/QUOTE]

your trouble is most likely with the CFC... as there was a stat holiday this month,as well as last month... chances are they had the week off before the stat and the week after... thus huge backlog of transfers to go through. Or maybe they are doing a full background check on you,to make sure you are who you say you are.

You do realize that a person can know if the transfer is even started just by calling the CFC right? Before I even contacted John about my problem I first contacted the CFC and asked if any transfers have been started and was told there are currently no pending transfers.

So I messaged John and asked him to look into it. Hopefully he'll get back to me tomorrow.

Never had a problem... .. Hope all goes well:)

I don't understand the point of posting what should be a simple customer service issue on an internet forum.

If you purchase something and you require supplemental information there are TWO venues to follow:

  1. Send an e-mail to the seller; OR
  2. Pick up the damn phone and call the other party. (this is the simplist solution)
What is the purpose of posting on a public forum?

I sent Marstar an order on Sunday, to which John acknowledged receipt. If I don't receive my gadget by Friday, I will call Marstar and ask them what's up! I will not post on CGN "Why didn't I get my bandoleer within a week. I live only 1 1/2hours from Marstar, more than enough time for Canada Post to find my mailbox... whaaaaaa......"

To the OP, your issue is not one of general interest to the firearms community. If you want an answer on your order, pick up the phone, you don't even have to pay long distance charges as they have a toll free number.

Whenever you make a purchase, whether from a dealer or a private sale, there are FOUR parties involved:

  1. Buyer
  2. Seller
  3. CFC
  4. Canada Post
The seller can NOT ship before the CFC approves the transfer. Seller has no control or influence on the CFO's office.

Once approved by the CFC, Canada post gets the parcel. Canada Post sometimes puts things into storage before delivery just to piss off the clientele.

If you are concerned about your order, then CALL 1-888-744-0066 and quit whining about it on the internet.

All that only matters IF the transfer actually gets started :p

As for posting about it in public, there have been a couple times when Ive PM'd, emailed, and called the seller yet the problem was never fixed. Yet the moment I posted it openly and seen others had the same problem then the seller started acting. It's really easy to simply brush someone off like this. But when it becomes public and others start saying "Hey I still have the same problem!" then the seller has to taken notice and act.

Not saying that's the case with John and Marstar, just giving an example from other forums Im a member of.

The OP posted and I noticed that he had the exact same problem as me.

This should be a sticky.

GATEHOUSE;
"I've been thinking about ordering a rifle from Marstar. Please tell your staff to start the transfer now, in case I decide to make the purchase in the next few months."

Good morning;
Since you did not mention which rifle you are considering I have instructed the warehouse to put one of each model we carry aside, just in case you order

Thank you for thinking about Marstar.

Wow, I want in on that deal. But make sure there is a price freeze. My hindsight is always crystal clear and this should give me a chance to utilize it.

Good call, except the poster bought a gun nearly a week ago. Why are there so many douchemongers downplaying crappy experiences people have with Marstar? Do you guys work there or something? It has nothing to do with feeling entitled, none of these folks have had unrealistic expectations. A business relies on customers, not smart assed comebacks. From the threads I've seen coupled with this John guys rude and indifferent responses, there isn't the slightest chance I'll ever be giving him my business and I won't be recommending him to anyone else either. Realistically I'm sure he doesn't care since he does more than enough business anyway, but I am glad that I've found out how he does business before I potentially become another statistic in his lineup of disgruntled customers.

I guess I would have more sympathy for the guy if it was a legitimate complaint. And it's not..Many times I have ordered just regular stuff like clothing and it takes me 2 weeks to get it. Guns often take longer, not just 6 days.

And Marstar isn't a small company, they are sending out dozens (hundreds?) of guns daily. That is how they offer such good pricing. Wait your turn...

I'm not a Marstar employee or cheerleader...My taste in guns mostly leans towards bolt action hunitng rifles and stuff that Marstar doesn't specialize in.

However, I've had a few dealings with Marstar and they have been very good.

Possibly it's because my expectations are realistic. I don't mind waiting a few weeks to save a few hundred bucks. (and sometimes you don't even have to wait that long)

What I find offensive and why I ridicule some people is because some think that because they happen to belong to CGN they think they are entitled to some special "immediate" treatment. NEWS FLASH the world doesn't work that way. I've been on CGn for a loooong time and I don't expect special treatment. Or maybe they just think that because they ordered something they get the special treatment...same story.

I will ALWAYS recommend Marstar because they offer excellent pricing, service and warranty.

I just noticed Marstr carries wood 1911 grips..I think I should order some for my Norinco 1911 I bought from Marstar for very little$$-far less than anywhere else.

If the grips don't show up in a week I doubt I will wet my bed.

Too many effing bedwetters...

In the case of the OP though Gatehouse he called up Marstar and asked how long it should take. They stated he should have the gun in his hands within 5-7 days. Instead it's been a week and the transfer hasn't even been started. Thus I can see what he might be a little upset.

In this day and age a business should not take more than a couple days to have orders completed. If a company is so busy it takes 2 weeks for an order to be processed then it's time to hire more staff or get things more inline to work more effeciently.

I've dealt with many online vendors, more than I care to count, and generally 99% of them will complete an order within 48 hours.

I placed an order for a firearm with Ellwood Epps and the transfer was completed the very same day and shipped out the next morning. So within 6 days of placing my order I had the firearm in hand.

I chose Marstar for my latest order because I respect John and figured I'd support a supporting retailer. 8 days later and still no transfer has been started. I talked with two other retailers and one of them replied the transfer would be started within the same day or the very next morning with their company. The other Im sure is the same.

If a company needs to take a week for an order due to always being busy then put it up on your website or tell people that orders are generally going to take a week to give people that choice. One store I dealt with openly stated when you placed an order that it could take up to 20 days for an order to be shipped. Their competitors could do the same order for the same price and have the order shipped within 48 hours.

I mean, if a transfer is taking forever to complete that isn't the fault of the store. If the store only ships firearms on a certain day of the week, even then that's fine.

But unless Im mistaken businesses can start the transfer online and that it takes under 10 minutes for one.

Seriously if I had been told that the transfer is started but they can't ship it out until next week because I missed their weekly shipping date then I would be fine, that shows the company is at least doing something with my order. But if you hear nothing from a company until you ask and only get a reply stating "Your order is still being processed" you feel as though the company just isn't taking order seriously.

But if you all of a sudden get super busy or something goes wrong and your normal 3 day order process period turns into two weeks, then just send out a notice to the people that made those orders stating there is going to be a delay and explain why there is a delay. Customers like to be treated as human beings and not just orders on some company's computer screen.

Hell I just did an order with a store in the US. Within 4 hours of paying them I got the tracking number for the holster I ordered. Granted that it's not a firearm.

None of this was written in any way as an insult to John or Marstar. These are just my observations as both an ex owner/operator of an online business and the customer of various online businesses.

I would love to purchase something from Marstar to see for myself. In order to expidite my order, could someone please provide a list of items that are actualy in stock. So far I haven't found anything. They must be in cahoots with Canada Ammo......................Yes this is sarcasm.

Dear John,

My last restricted transfer from Marstar took only 3 days in Ontario. This is clearly skewing the stats and making the Ontario CFC look like either they are improving or being held to a standard of some sort. Please tell you staff to slow down my future order picks and transfers lest the CFC come out looking too good.

Thanks.

So I guess everyone here would be ok if they paid for something from the EE and never heard from the seller for over a week then? Good to know :p

Ah well, john let me know the transfer was started and it'll be shipped soon. :D

"In this day and age a business should not take more than a couple days to have orders completed."
How do you arrive at these conclusions ?

"I placed an order for a firearm with Ellwood Epps and the transfer was completed the very same day and shipped out the next morning. So within 6 days of placing my order I had the firearm in hand.

I applaud the fast service you received, however I would question just how busy my friends the Orillia shop are ? Please try and understand we are a large volume company, we process large numbers of orders and as a result make many transfer applications each and every day, we have one person that does nothing but transers.

"I chose Marstar for my latest order because I respect John and figured I'd support a supporting retailer. 8 days later and still no transfer has been started.
While I thank you for choosing Marstar I wonder how you have determined that your transfer has not been initiated ?? Not that the CFC would mislead you ?
Our staff is unable to verify the file to which you refer as we do not have any orders pending for DRACHE....

"I talked with two other retailers and one of them replied the transfer would be started within the same day or the very next morning with their company. The other Im sure is the same"
Perhaps these other smaller dealer are NOT quite as busy as we are ?
Had you asked here I'm certain the staf would have told ou of theestimated delay at that particular moment in time.... As mentioned above, we are a large volume outlet.

"These are just my observations as both an ex owner/operator of an online business and the customer of various online businesses. "

As a fellow online business man perhaps you can solve our problems for us ?
Our site of more than 2000 pages generate over 40,000 "hits" per day.... Our telephone order desks genberate a very high number of calls/orders each and every day
I would ask you, how many controlled goods are you dealing with ?
How many goods do you sell requiring special handling ?
I can tell you that Marstar received over 4,500 firearms in the past two months alone.... Last year we sold just under 20 million rds of ammunition....
A lot of orders, a lot of transfers, a lot of special handling....

I would welcome any and all solutions to resolve the delays we experience.... While you are at it PLEASE offer some suggestion for resolving the long delays we have at the CFC/CFO level.

Thank you for taking the time to drop us a note, but please give me your real name so I can look up the file and respond accurately.

John
