*resolved* Our firearms too scary for Toronto Sportsman Show

That is a very dissapointing and narrow viewpoint expressed by the shows sponsors. I can only reflect that their profit margins will be reduced by limited their shows participants to their short sighted impression of what constitutes hunting rifles and accessories.

They don't want your scary black guns to be seen by the public for goodness sake but it's OK to have "SGT. Splatter's" paintball so you can shoot your buddies with paintballs.

They have scary AR looking black paintball guns on their web site?

I'll send them an email to support you T.I.

The show has been a joke for a couple years now. Fvcking stupid dog shows and NO GUNZ. I will NEVER waste my time and money on that again.

Great idea! May I suggest the Kitchener Auditorium as a venue? Easy to get to, just an hour west of Toronto so accessible to Hamilton and London; plenty large enough for our needs; lots of parking; and, best of all, I can walk to it. :D

I was only half joking.. we do it on another forum and it is a huge success.

And here is the e-mail I just sent off to all involved.

Greetings,

I have attended you Sportsman show numerous times, but upon hearing that a company I support and believe in not being allowed a table I doubt I will not attend again.

I have seen the show become a hopeless 3 ring circus for every other sport but shooting and hunting. You should be ashamed that you have denied a firearms company space at your show when other non-sportsmen related companies show up en mass.

And to use the excuse of "I spoke it over with the Show Manager and the issue is that these rifles don’t look entirely like Hunting Rifles." is a cop out. I have seen many rifles at the show that did not look like hunting rifles. And what of the airsoft rifles that look military? Do they somehow get a free pass?

You have lost an attendee.

Respectfully,

Matthew

Hope it helps.

Matt

Start a new one for sure, you will get better growth of the sport that way, although keep in mind Toronto is a liberal/NDP hot bed still and they are in the lions mouth down there. No matter what you won't get good media coverage down there.

Here is my letter,

Good day Mr. Ostapchuk,

I was recently made aware that you were not allowing a vendor to display his wares at your show because his products did not fit into your idea of “Hunting arms”. I feel this is a very poor decision and could have long lasting effects for all gun owners. All types of firearms and accessories that are allowed to be hunted with should be viewed by all who enter your show.

It is this ignorance of other type of firearms and the people who use them that will continue to divide firearms users. Instead of not allowing this person to show his wares, he should be given a booth in a prime area so we can all join together and ensure our rights as owners and hunters. Educating 10 hunters about this will remove the misunderstanding of these firearms for countless others they come in contact with.

If you think this decision will not affect all hunters and firearm owners, how long till someone figures we do not need a show like yours because hunting is “mean and atrocious”. Soon we will not have pump guns. Then bolt actions will be gone. Then all will be prohibited.

You may think this is alarmist, but if we do not get together, we will fall apart.

Please rethink your decision for the benefit of all hunters and sport shooters.

Sincerely,

Also keep in mind this gun show should not be pandering the same way to the left anymore, there is no need to keep things out of sight from the Liberals/NDP anymore it benefits no one on this side of the line. We do have Mayor Ford in there now, so it is time to push a more pro-gun approach and the Blackrifle agenda needs to grow there.

Boycott the show and for that matter the whole city Unfortunately this is the trend everywhere More of a Homeshow than Sportsman's Show I stopped attending this show a few years ago as did my Amex and Visa cards Sadly I do not think we are missed , the show is widely attended

I went with this:

Mr. Ostapchuk,
In regards to the exclusion of Tactical Imports from the Toronto Sportsman Show.
Somehow I do not see how hot-tubs, paintball and junk food are more in-line with what the sportsman show represents than "non-hunting looking" firearms.
I am very disappointed by your decision to exclude a business that sells sporting firearms.

Regards,
