Restamp serial number

There was another thread a while back when someone wanted to open up the loading port on his Beretta 1301 Comp and the stupid serial number is right on the lip of the loading port. IIRC, CFO told him he could relocate the serial number higher first by stamping the serial number to the new position on the receiver, take a pic of the original and relocated serial as proof then proceed with the gunsmith work. Don't hold me to that... I read it on the internet. lol

I like it when they never had a serial number and you can stamp what you want...

This was registered under the previous long gun registry.

That is awesome.

You had to either register it with a serial number or register it with no serial number at which point they would mail you an identifying sticker to attach to the firearm.

When they were pulling that SN crap. Did they demand it to be so long. If they said i had to it would have been SN 22, 308, 35 or the caliber thats already stamped
About 25 years ago I was buying a couple of black powder revolvers in the US. I didn't know if they had serial numbers on them as BP firearms in the states have very few controls. I called the CFC and asked about putting serial numbers on the guns so they could be registered. At that time they told me it had to be a minimum combination of 1 letter and three numbers or 1 number and three letters (can't remember which :(). Maybe things have changed but at that time it was a pretty simple process and the reg. number could be quite short.
