Restricted vs non restricted AR

I think he is referring to the ATRS Modern Varminter (223) and Modern Hunter (308 based). They are as close to an AR15 as you can get and be still NR. Second to that would be the Rob Arms XCR. As far as being similar to the AR15 goes. Now if you want to just have a fun range rapid fire blaster on the cheap get a pistol cal carbine or a T97. If you want quality go with a Bushmaster ACR, Tavor. Middle ground XCR. Varminter is yet to be released but based on the Hunter. Could be a good rifle. Mixed reviews on the Hunter but mostly good stuff said. I have an AR15 and a Tavor. If accuracy is paramount then consider the HK SL8 and the Benelli MR1.

How could Dilli get benched for that when people say way worse on here.

Moe
The MR1 accuracy is no where near paramount. Most of them suck in that department, I don't care what Caramel claims his can do.

The AR was originally going to be Prohibited by name. Considerable lobbying occurred because it was common in Service Rifle shoots, so they made it restricted instead.

It was only because it was a scary black rifle, like all the others they prohibited at the time. I have no doubt the Tavor, XCR, ACR and many others would have prohibited if they existed at the time...
This is the only correct answer in this thread. It was DCRA that did the lobbying at the time. The AR was singled out for more lenient treatment than the others, odd as that sounds now.

I read somewhere, a while ago, that someone had seen the original paperwork that resulted in the AR15 (and others) classification as restricted. It was a series of pages apparently torn out of a gun catalog with X's on all the scary-looking black guns.

That was the rumour. It was a Gun Digest catalogue from the 80s(?) apparently.
Even the HK G11 prototype caseless ammo rifle was banned and they were not even available commercially!
Apparently the NFA got their hands on proof of this evil deed and were going to release the evidence. There was a LONG thread here about it around 1.5 years ago but nothing came of it AFAIK.

When I was talking with him he said he doesn'tknow the exact reason for the ban, no infraction report was submitted to his inbox according to him.

So, to be clear, implying criminality of Canadian firearm laws is viewed as speech that CGN wants to prevent their site from fostering?

Apparently, Rule 6. condemns use of insults calling people or authorities Nazis, fascist and, presumably, Gestapo in order to keep the
forums civil and respectful. There may be no warning if a pattern is observed. It is intended to make CGN a place where all are able
to express their views in a civilized manner. I will miss Dilligaf but I am glad that CGN is a, mostly, pleasant place for discussion.

Typically yes, but we're talking about the one and only DILLIGAF a here.

I got my name in pink once as well, to this day I still have no idea which straw broke the camel's back, but I saved a lot of money not buying anyting from EE for 6 months, lol!

So what happens when you turn pink? Are you still able to log in or view posts? How about respond to messages or have access to the inbox? Im wondering what would happen if Dilligaf (or anyone who gets banned) accepts or sends an EMT for something that are selling/buying. If they cant access the site, they may have an issue communicating with the other party, which could be a problem.

One is a useless paperweight, and one can be enjoyed everywhere you see fit ( i.e Tavor, ACR , Vz858 ) without asking the Gestapo for permission

Funny how this offensive post that got him banned for 6 months is still up for everyone to see. LOL...

He also told me by email that he asked for clarification and none was ever given.

So what happens when you turn pink? Are you still able to log in or view posts? .

He told me he cant access anything.

I guess some have that negative opinion on ARs but if you use it as designed for classes and compitition is is a tremendous toy with a ton of fun.

My ACR does everything My AR's used to do :) And the more I use the Tavor the more the ACR collects dust.

I used to drink the AR kool aid, I just moved on with life and sold all my restricteds.

The Tavor, ACR and the like are way to over priced for my liking and are only that due to their non restricted status and not the the firearm. Where I shoot I never see the previous mentioned rifles.

well yes and no, the acr and the tavor are still very expensive in the USA compared to an AR, and thats not due to any non restricted status.

Actually some of my AR's cost more than my Tavor or ACR.

Tavor was 1850 used
ACR was 2250 used

Mind you that was 3 years ago now. At today's prices I wouldn't own them.

thinking about it lately, might just keep 2 and sell 2

The amount of money I save range fees is worth it... hehehehehe.. And I took up Trap shooting this summer and I like it more than long range and Black rifle shooting. Must be all the money I have left in my pocket after a day of trap. :) compared to a day with 5.56 and .308
