restristed vs non

I

Lol what?????

Listen everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But I have never heard or experienced what your saying. There is no non restricted black rifle that even shoot 3 MOA never mind sub MOA like the MH. And please folks, spare me on the stories of your sub MOA xcr and tavor. I owned both and neither can hit the broad side of a barn compared to a MH. Now don't get me wrong tavor and xcr are great guns I have a lot of fun. And accuracy for a black rifle is not the priority I get it. But since the OP was asking about accuracy I have to be honest. I actually sold off my tavor because bullpup just wasn't my cup of tea. But easily in my experience the least accurate of the non restricted. I reloaded every powder and bullet combination and couldn't get anything tighter then 3" groups. (I'm no Chris Kyle, but I own long range precision bolt actions that I shoot 3/4" groups all day). Xcr I was able to get a decent 1.5" group one day, and another 2.5"+. No consistency in that design.

My modern hunter I have only begun load testing and I'm already doing sub MOA groups. And when I say sub MOA groups I mean 5 groups of 5 rounds on one page. The only other non restricted I fired that came close was the Hk. But hated the plastic look and feel.

People pay $3500 for famae, Swiss tavor etc. you can't even compare those rifles to a MH. And that's from shooting thousands of rounds thru all of the above.

You are forgetting the FNAR semi.-auto. rifle in .308 that Caramel has been able to shoot sub MOA groups (has achieved this with two different FNAR rifles) and actually achieved a very impressive #5 x #5 shot groups with one in Trinimon's Black Rifle challenge her at CGN.

I for one do consider the FNAR with pistol grip, adjustable length of pull and comb, picatinny rails for optic and accessories at 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock with 20" fluted Cold Hammer Forged barrel a Non-Restricted Black Rifle (perhaps more of a DMR: Designated Marksmen Rifle or Sniper Rifle, but a Black Rifle all the same) and for half the price of the Modern Hunter, do consider it a very good deal indeed.

It may not have the battle lineage like the AR (although you could argue it dates back to the BAR machine guns of past wars), but considering we're calling the Robinson Arms a Black Rifle or rifles such as a Keltec RFB among others the same, I feel it's only fair to allow the FNAR at least the pistol grip version that is all black to be accepted into this category too.

There are other .308 Non-Restricted semi.-auto. Black Rifles it is possible to get MOA and for sure 1-2 MOA from as well, like the RFB Epoxy has stated and lets not forget an accurized M1A or M1A1 too (with some load development the Famae 542 may get down under 2MOA as well).
The Modern Hunter while a finely crafted Canadian firearm is not the only Black NR Semi. in .308 that is capable of better then 3 MOA.

I've only mentioned .308 calibre NR Black Semi.'s to this point, but if we are to look at NR Black rifles in .223 there would be even more rifles that are capable of under 3MOA accuracy. HKSL8, Swiss Black/Classic Green, ACR with a quality NR barrel are all capable of MOA accuracy (as previously stated by Epoxy7) with the correct ammo./shooter and at least one CGN'er has shot MOA with a Benelli MR1 with hand loads although more commonly accepted to be 2+/-MOA rifle with quality ammo.; it shows that there are many rifles that can better the 3MOA limit you speak of.

If only considering achieving better then 3MOA the list could be very long indeed as the AR180B-2, Famae 540, Mini-14 target model and even the XCR-L and Tavor are likely to all make that list again with quality match ammo. or hand loads. Just because one shooter can not make better then 3 MOA groups with one or two different rifles does not mean it will never be possible for another shooter to and one or two different rifles is a insignificant number to argue they all shoot like that. Also there is a difference between shooting bolt guns well and semi.'s well too that could be a consideration, since the semi.'s can be more difficult to shoot or shoot consistently as compared to a bolt.

Cheers D
