When shooting off a bench with a modern pistol grip style chassis, what are you all using for rests?
I'm looking for a simple, solid front and rear option. I'm running a CZ455 and recently put it in an oryx chassis.
I've been struggling with my position and I feel I'm always readjusting and having a hard time getting and maintaining that natural point of aim. The beefy long forend of the oryx has helped a bit. I've been using an assortment of lower quality bags, experimenting with positions and different fills. Ive been having an especially hard time with the pistol grip chassis when trying to support the rear.
I frequently shoot very decent groups but not consistently. I believe my rifle is more than capable, I have lots of ammo testing to do but I know what it likes best so far. The problem is me.
I'm considering a quality bipod for the front and a quality bag for the rear but I want to be sure that it will be versatile enough to get the height I need as I need it.
I'm also considering just a good front and rear bag. I'm taking a good look at the gamechanger... though, doesn't it seem its meant to be used on barricades as a single rest? I don't know if it will be ideal for bench shooting. It sure looks solid though.
What is everyone using for bags and do you like to support the rear under the grip or the butt stock. In other words, what are you using and how are you using it? I want to hit this .5" @ 50m challenge!
