When shooting off a bench with a modern pistol grip style chassis, what are you all using for rests?

I'm looking for a simple, solid front and rear option. I'm running a CZ455 and recently put it in an oryx chassis.

I've been struggling with my position and I feel I'm always readjusting and having a hard time getting and maintaining that natural point of aim. The beefy long forend of the oryx has helped a bit. I've been using an assortment of lower quality bags, experimenting with positions and different fills. Ive been having an especially hard time with the pistol grip chassis when trying to support the rear.

I frequently shoot very decent groups but not consistently. I believe my rifle is more than capable, I have lots of ammo testing to do but I know what it likes best so far. The problem is me.

I'm considering a quality bipod for the front and a quality bag for the rear but I want to be sure that it will be versatile enough to get the height I need as I need it.

I'm also considering just a good front and rear bag. I'm taking a good look at the gamechanger... though, doesn't it seem its meant to be used on barricades as a single rest? I don't know if it will be ideal for bench shooting. It sure looks solid though.

What is everyone using for bags and do you like to support the rear under the grip or the butt stock. In other words, what are you using and how are you using it? I want to hit this .5" @ 50m challenge!

PRS style bags like the GC are built for shooting off barricades, which is also what a chassis is for.
You'll notice that bench shooters use neither.

Fair enough. I was hoping to find a traditional style stock for my 455 but its slim pickins out there. I needed to upgrade from the wood stock. The oryx, mpa and mdt lss were about the only options available right now. No xrs for the 455 and good luck finding a bravo. I wasnt prepared to change platforms.

I cant be the only one using a chassis from the bench.

I'm using an Oryx chassis on a centerfire rifle off the bench. I use a Caldwell "Rock BR" front rest, and that works great...but I'm totally lost when it comes to something fitting nicely out back. I've tried a few rear rests and it's been like "Goldilocks" , this ones too low, this ones too high, this ones too sloped that ones too square.

If you find something that fits nicely, please let us know

I use a Fortune Cookie for the rear when on a bench, along with a bipod or Rush 12 pack with a Caldwell “ rabbit ear “woven into the webbing. I find with a chassis I am much more comfortable when I get the whole rifle higher off the floor.

I ended up finding a great option for a rear bag. Armageddon gear X-Wing large. A few different options for height thanks to the shape and the way it grabs the rifle is just perfect. I'm going to pick up a bag rider for my oryx chassis too. Right now I'm just using a section of picatinny rail mounted to the mlok point on the bottom of the stock. My last range trip I had some of the best groups I've ever shot using this rear rest and my cheapo front bag.

Tried all kinds of fill including gravel. Sand, airsoft abs, kinetic sand, rice, etc. I've done the sock thing as well as many other homemade bags. Cheap amazon bags. All kinds. Never had much success off a bipod. But I've never had a good bipod either.

I've been looking for a really solid rest that gives me the height and adjustability. I like to squeeze my rear bag to adjust height, I've found gravel doesn't allow that so easily.

My setup if I'm not using the Ckye-Pod and rear bag.

Ckye-Pod and the bag I use off a bench. A very stable bipod.

FWIW, I'm shooting a CZ457 LRP. I have a Harris bipod mounted up front and use a Caldwell bag for the rear when at the range (I'll usually squeeze to get fine height adjustment). Tried a monopod once (attached to the rear rail) but wasn't as stable as the bag. I'll probably have to revise things when I move outside and start shooting 100+ but this setup is fine for indoors at 50 yards (max).
