Bumping this old thread up with a new question, skip to page 4
Hi everyone,
I never really got the attraction to bullpups until I saw one in person and suddenly realized the appeal of packing that much gun into a small package. I picked up a FTU T97 shortly thereafter but ended up selling it pretty quick because it didn't like any of my LAR or Beowulf mags, and 5 round mags are against my religion. But I was determined to try the bullpup thing again.
I'd been watching the EE for used Tavor packages but have to admit I really liked the sounds of some of the tweaks to the design that were incorporated into the X95. Well, I saw a deal on a like new 9mm which I just couldn't resist and it is now on its way to my grubby hands. For what it's worth, the 9mm option was the clincher for me as I'm more of a pistol guy and part Scottish to boot, so bring on the cheap NR plinking!
Anyway, I'm willing to give the cutlass a try, but I am expecting I will want to pick up the pistol grip eventually. What are folks' experience transitioning from one to the other?
I see a lot of fuss over the butt pad too, what are the complaints about the OEM pad? Other than reducing LOP, what does the thin one accomplish? I have orangutan long arms, though I do like a short LOP with some rifles. What do you use and why?
And then there's the port cover. What on earth is that and why is it important?
How about the trigger upgrade? I'm guessing if you are trying to put two bullets in the same hole at 400 yards or using this for coyotes I could understand, but if I'm using the 9mm for NR plinking (like short range beer cans on the fence) is a trigger upgrade worth it?
What other accessories out there would you recommend and why? (Bonus points if you can name a site sponsor who carries them too).
Thanks for looking everyone and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
