The bad...
- I hate the black plastic stocks… they feel like they belong on a toy. Deep sixed that piece immediately and replaced it with a spare GI stock sporting a rattle-can multicam paint job.
- The included front sight is a POS… totally crooked. Replaced with spare GI one.
- It looks like my bolt was over machined on the right lug when they were cutting the bolt roller knob. The bolt roller should be somewhat flush with the side of the right lug… as you can see in the pics, mine is not. (WTF Norinco??? Nobody noticed this on assembly? You can do better, get your head in the game!) On the bright side I have solid lug contact on both sides, and by the looks of it this shouldn’t really affect anything… I guess time will tell.
- My op rod is unusable. The tube part at the front is machined at a very bad upward angle. Once I got the op rod guide mounted straight and solid, the angle of the rod would cause it to jam up at the rear of it’s travel… I replaced with a spare norc one I had and it’s all good.
- I’m pretty sure the splines for the gas system are machined off of center. When I index the barrel so the navy sight is as close to level as I can get it, it appears to me based on other barrel features that the barrel is in fact over-indexed. The feedramp center is way over to the right, and the handguard clip recesses look like they’re cranked a little too far over as well. Took some fiddling but I got it to where I’m happy with it.
Any pics on this barrel gouge, is it just cosmetic?
Nobody knows if its cosmetic only.
One thing is certain; its not supposed to be there ans it decreases the value.
I see that SFRC has dropped their price AND thrown in some extras on their T97. While it may be an "Inventory Sale" I can't help but wonder if it is more than that. I wonder if, the closer we get to CanAm releasing their version, the prices will continue to drop. Or is it the barrel "gouge" issue and some concerns about receiver wear that have caused sluggish sales. Maybe both? Either way, looks like Canada's cheapest NR bullpup is going to get cheaper!
prices on all chinese guns are going to go up 100 $ next year i don't see the price dropping that much. The canam version will be sold at a loss at 850 or just breaking even. my gut feeling is they can't negotiate a price on an improved version that won't lose them a ton of money.
No secret conspiracy's. This sale is only for a few days until we do our inventory on the weekend. After that they are back to normal price. I'm not really worried about someone else releasing another version...it's 18 about months to get a new FRT last I checked so that would put another company at mid 2015 in a best case scenario.

My understanding is that CanAm does not need another FRT, as the guns are identical in every way.
I could be wrong, but if they need a new FRT I'm out!
