Revolvers over pistols... My choice....

I have a couple of semi autos; Ruger Mk II, Star Model F, and a Colt 1991A1.
And one single shot Hammerli. But the ones that shoot often enough with satisfying accuracy usually are a sixgun platform launching 38 or 44 Special.
Favorites are the Colt Model 357 and a S&W Model 624, along with the Mk II. And one 1976 Liberty edition ROA in there too!
 
Ah, Caramel my friend...do you not see your problem? You are using glocks. It's like being a guy that likes tooling on cars, but driving a new vehicle instead of a first gen beetle! Too reliable for interest. I shoot old autos, cause they're more interesting. They have character, and character flaws.....

no surprize, you got the 44 fix. you like fireballs.;)

nature of their respective designs allows revos much powerfull calibers .



however generally unless finely tuned , big bore revos aren't as fast shooters as semi auto's . heavy and lenghty DA's means speed can be detrimental to accuracy .

the S&W performance center takes care of that:D .

JP, you should glance at their listing, i think you would like a highly pimped and tuned .44 in 6'' .

There is not a .44 magnum Performance Center revolver that appeals to me at the moment. IMHO, I look at them and exclaim "What were they thinking?!". They are appealing to those that are hunting with them with the states that allow it. They are just getting fugglier all the time however. The Stealth Hunter looks okay but the philosophy of use is totally wrong with our Canadian hunting regs.

Ya most performance centre Smiths lack any sort of aesthetic appeal to me. Can't they just make a finely tuned conservative classic variant?

I like the 629 v-comp though (it would be better minus the comp but i could live with it), but it is a 4 inches. However i did see one on irunguns recently listed at 4.25.

Yes. well, ahem ... I'm a crappy shot wielding any handgun, with revolvers though .. a little less crappy.
Antique wheelguns are really good for this shot sprayers 'ineptitude cover', just hit paper 6 for 6 at 25, and the boys are suitably impressed.

I'm currently very pleased with my .22LR pistols. while they don't have the recoil, noise and blast of centerfile pistols and revolvers, they please me, especially if you put in some heavy or some hot ammunition.

you might want to consider that 1911 clone coming out in .357 Magnum. that might give you some kick that pleases your palate. :)

I know I may look to pick me up a PMR-30. semi-auto in .22 WMR. read the reviews, it's loud and has serious muzzle blast. it's kinda of like a light weight .223 in a pistol!

love to try your DE in .44RM. I'm fond of that cartridge *from my lever rifle days*.
 
That is exactly why people want to hunt with handguns. They need a new challenge. Life with rifle hunting just became too easy with all of the gizmos and gadgets we own, then we pat ourselves on the back like it was a job well done. Try sneaking up on your game wearing just a loin skin with a spear in hand, then you'll get a taste for the art of the hunt. I guess the .44 mag revolver hunting is a close second. Bahaha! Too bad we can have none of it. We should have a group feral hog hunt in Texas, armed with nothing but a 45-70 revolver. I hear it gets the blood pumping.

For me it is much more fun to shoot a big single action revolver than nothing else. IMHO a revolver is a tool, a pistol is a machine.

I concur. That is the main advantage of wheelguns over auto IMO. Though I shoot most wheelguns better as well.
 
One of the reasons why I don't reload is the Hate of Picking up Brass (I'm also lazy…) All the 9's and 45's just get swept forward of the firing line.
However, all my center-fire brass from my revolvers have been saved and now that I just picked up a PC 625 with 10 moon-clips I'll be saving my 45ACP brass.
I just might get into reloading one day….

I to, i keep all my 44 mag and 357 mag once fire... I got minimun 1000 of each for future reloading projects... JP.

I see no reason not to allow handguns in the bush for protection and hunting, however If you want a more primitive experience, you can still get or make a long bow and some wooden,feather fletched arrows.

Does anyone know why handgun hunting/backwood carry was actually banned? Heard a few things (e.g. a incident in Ontario in the 50's or 60's) but nothing definitive. haven't searched so maybe i should start there.
