RFB initial thoughts, Range report ***JANUARY 31st ammo test at bottom of OP***

No, your a fanboy becasue you think a 24" and 32" barrel is going to turn a Bulpup semi auto into a sniper platform. Companies like KAC and LMT who have proven track records came to the conclusion that long barrels offered no advantage on their semi .308 platforms but I guess Kel-tec with their superior enginering and track record know better.

Bulpups have really one advantage and sticking long barrels on it makes that disapear and thus becomes a comedy.

I dont hate you or Kel-tec but I dont waste bandwith with OMG OMG OMG its almost here over and over like you do.

Please find the post where I said the 24" and 32" versions will make it into a sniper rifle. Again, you're trolling.

Bad grox6. Leave at least one for me ;)

D.

We can trade back and forth from time to time, I'll borrow one of your tricked out M14's and you can take one of the RFB's:)

I'm not going to be able to hit any ranges this weekend, but we can chat on Monday about the following weekend. (I'd love some more trigger time on that beastly M14 you rigged up.)

Oh, and I've got crap glass on my RFB at the moment. All my good scopes were already mounted and zeroed on other guns, so I put a disco ball of a scope on the RFB(A Chinese knock off I bought in Shanghai last month.)

The place that sold me the scope also had some pretty impressive lasers. The bigger ones were hot enough to ignite matches. Slap one of those on a gun and you could probably permanently blind someone. On a related note, the sales guy didn't believe me when I told him I'd probably be putting the scope on a Chinese gun(One of my Norc M14's). It was unfathomable for him that anyone other than a Chinese army member or police member would ever get their hands on a Chinese made gun. I didn't argue:)

Monday sounds good.

If you want you can borrow the glass I have on the Troy (it's out of commission atm) if you want to run something semi decent on the RFB for a bit?

D.

That would be very much appreciated! I can toss you the Tavor as collateral if you want to play with it for a while(I don't enjoy shooting it, the trigger sucks and the gases always sting my eyes and lungs).

Now I know for sure you guys are RFB fanboys :) The RFB would be a joke with a 24" barrel and it would be a serious comedy with a 32"

LOL!

Not really. The whole advantage of a bullpup is balance and length. A 32" barreled RFB would probably be the same length as my AR10 rifles with 24" barrels.

Not a sniper rifle but could make one fine designated marksman rifle, longer range hunting, target shooting and pest control.

As for all the engineering etc. A DPMS with 24" match barrel shoots along side those other rifles. You're not paying strictly for accuracy with those big names. Your paying for name and military grade components (which includes the extra costs of testing and materials). The RFB isn't a military rifle. This doesn't mean it can't be made to be very accurate.

In terms of accuracy the DI semi autos are easier to turn into tack drivers. However the 32" target model prototype was shooting 3/4 moa with match ammo. I agree due to harmonics and barrel stiffness that the 24" has more potential for accuracy. That being said when it comes to lobbing 175 grain rounds downrange or heavier the extra velocity may give it better accuracy due to the heavier ammo with better BC at longer ranges. So for long range it may in fact be more accurate mostly due to the ammo/ballistics.

Also the RFB barrel isn't really unsupported. It's the spine of the rifle. Plus there are a number of long distance accuracy rigs sporting 30" tubes and shooting well.

There's nothing fanboy about wanting a 24" match heavy barrel in this platform. Fireball and I both have Canadian DND Armalite AR10 rifles with 24" medium heavy military match grade barrels. These were in use by the Canadian spotters for the snipers. The accuracy is phenomenal for a semi auto.

If we can get close to this in the much shorter and handier RFB then we'll be laughing all the way to non restricted target shooting, long range hunting, and pest control.

LOL! The RFB allready has the perfect size barrel at 18"5 anything longer is stupid. Its the perfect bush gun, a tiny, accurate semi auto with .308 power.

If anything it needs a match grade 18.5" with twist matched for its ammo and a trigger.
Its the perfect size

That's like saying the AR15 is perfect with a M4 14.5 barrel. It is for some purposes but not all. Which is why you can buy shorties, 20", 24" etc for target varminting. One size doesn't fit all.

Now stop being silly. I figure you haven't learned to password protect your computer so your little sister is posting under your name. Hence all the LOL tee hee crud. Either that or your just trolling.

Guys, please don't get this thread shut down by baiting each other and trolling!
It's for range depots on the RFB, not b1tching at each other!

Cheers
Jay
P.S. I just put my name in the hat last night! Really looking forward to the arrival of my RFB... Now the wait...

Not me... I'm not jumping in yet being a hunter first (this would actually be the only reason I would get this rifle) I need accuracy tests posted with good results before I throw my name in the hat...

Awesome! I hope that you do get a 32" barrel for your RFB!!! That would ROCK! You could also roast marshmellows on the 32" barrel over a fire. That would really ROCK!

Ok..just got back from the range (yes, Poco) and ran a crap load of ammo through the RFB. The Prvi Partisan 145g .308 I'm using functioned flawlessly. 100 rounds down and not a single issue (other than only loading 4 rounds into the heavily lubed mag...5 is too tight). Alright...this is how it's supposed to be!! For me I can only manage 2 MOA with this rifle (and I'm happy 'cause that's ok by me...this ain't no precision gear here).

So I thought I'd swap to some old 7.62 NATO I had given to me (so I could get rid of it). This is where things went south on me...45 out of the 50 rounds wouldn't chamber properly. Now I'm not blaming the RFB here...these rounds were left overs from my late father in law. I think they may have been reloads (and probably many times over from the looks of the casings). They're IVI cases dating from 68 to 77. They wouldn't seat properly...I'd say the casing was probably too long (based on how far forward the charge handle went). After using the mic on it the IVI they are upwards of .015 longer...that's not good. Oh well, now I know...only the good stuff for the RFB from now on...

I hear ya camp cook, I wanted an RFB-C that had the 'standardized' Canadian markings & hoped to get range reports from guys before jumping on the wagon... After calling all the stores that carry them, and finding the shortest list with Lanz, I decided to to for it because I want it for next deer season! At 15 guns every 5 weeks... (what I was told by one of the stores) It could be a long wait when guys start seeing these at the range and WANT ONE!!!

Cheers

2 moa at what distance?

Oops...sorry...50m and 100m (if I bench it). If i free stand shoot its more like 10 MOA at 50m/100m..just can stand still enough...
