Rfb question for owners - optics?

Well just telling you what mine does. Can't explain why it is so good and have no reason/need to make up stories.... (and BTW I have been shooting for more than 50 years in civilian life and military so do claim to vaguely know what I am talking about......

That's some fantastic shooting, you must be a very good marksman and also got lucky and got an RFB that is more accurate than anyone else so far. What are you using for ammo?

I run an ADM scout mount on mine with the vortex PST 1-4.5, NPR reticle. Not a fan of screws / nuts sticking out on the side especially with a side mounted charging handle. I shoot it out to 600m on man sized steel with all kinds of cheap Norinco steel cased stuff. The rifle is more accurate than people give it credit... guess I got a unicorn too.

Reminds me of when Tactical Teacher (formerly Hungry) won the nationals with his tuned Norinco M305 outshooting those running guns SEVEN TIMES more expensive than the obviously inaccurate Norinco. People gonna hate .. especially the brand name crowd. Enjoy the RFB!
I shoot 1 moa consistently with my rfb with core-lokt 150 gr. Lol. I'm lucky too i guess.I currently hunt with a weaver 1-3x25 scope on it.

Geez, do we have to muck up every thread, on every topic, with a discussion/debate about I-don't-believe-your-groups?

My RFB, which I picked up used from an excellent CGN seller...nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more...will do 1.5MOA with its favourite surplus and a wee bit better with handloads. I'm not divulging the type of surplus...I don't want to compete for it when some shows up :). In other words, I think the RFB is accurate enough to deserve a magnified scope rather than just a dot, and having the empties in a nice neat little stack in front of me encourages the development and use of handloads for it. I put on a Leupold Euro 2-7x with a heavy #4 reticle, and I think that is very close to ideal for hunting with this rifle. It looks cooler with a straight-tube scope, and it would be fine with 1-4x or similar, but for hunting I want that extra bit of brightness...and it's what I had on hand when I bought the rifle. The fairly coarse reticle is also well-matched to this use; I will not be shooting at deer more than 250 yards away with this rifle. And for those ranges, a simple uncluttered crosshair is best; the more I use the #4 reticle the more I like it.

The mount is a PEPR, with smooth ring tops (I have the silly railed ones on the EE), again because I had it on hand. Height is perfect, cheekweld is just right for me. However, I detest those big hex knobs sticking out on the side with the charging handle. I may change the mount to a QD with flat levers or perhaps one of the Vortex mounts that bolt on with an Allen key, just to get that low profile on the side. Hey, look at that! A use for something by Vortex! :)

I have a hard time believing people when they say their RFB will shoot 1 moa, especially when they say it will do it all day. Where are the entries in the my rifle shoots moa all day threads if these are so accurate? To claim that it shoots 1 moa it should be capable of that every round of every magazine every day not just one good group now and then.
I owned a gen 2 and know a couple other guys that had one and they were all around 1.5-2 moa (consistently with decent ammo). I spend days after day at the range doing load development with projectiles from 110gr all the way up to 180gr and nothing I did would get the groups down under 1.5 inches at 100 yards. So when I read guys saying that their rifle does it all day long with surplus or crap hunting rounds and my $6000 Modern Hunter with Proof Research barrel and my M14 build with Krieger barrel both have a very hard time shooting 1 moa consistently with handloads I think it's filling people's heads with unrealistic expectations. It's one of the reasons so many waterheads on here expect every rifle over $1000 to shoot 1 moa or better and if it doesn't they're disappointed.

I'm not calling anyone a liar, maybe there are a few unicorn rifles out there that just work better than the average, I just have a hard time believing that these will shoot that well consistently after spending as much time with one as I did.

I found a good use for my second last Vortex, traded it for a Sightron :kickInTheNuts:
Got one left, maybe I'll throw it on my Vector or something.
