another thread that i wanted to come in and finish up on.
seems that now spring is here my dad and my co-workers finally decided to get their RIA's all done up and serviceable.
thought id come in and give a closing account now that ive had a bit of time to shoot these guns and play with them.
i still have 2 of mine on original ruger wood stocks.
im keeping them for my kids to use when they get a bit older and better at shooting.
ive had those 2 our a couple of time and i have yet to have any failures or misfires.
my dad decided he didnt like the BC folding stock on his and he ordered in a Hogue overmolded stock and i put that on for him this week, also he put on a new red dot.
we've had his out last 2 days and put a LOT of rounds down it.
ran into only 1 problem, he had purchased 3 steel lip mags for it and 1 of them wouldnt fit.
im gonna look more at it and find out why but it just would not even go in and if ya did slam it in it wouldnt seat properly.
so thats a mag problem, not the gun.
so, my 2 and my dads 1 so far are great.
i did polish up the insides and the bolt and gave them a good cleaning with G96 which i think went a long ways to making them run so good.
my co-workers all went about thiers a little different.
1 ordered in a Boyd's stock and put a compact scope on it.
he loves it!
another co worker went with a original ruger stock and a cheap scope, he gave it to his sons since they live on a farm and they have been abusing the gun and no problems.
3rd co-worker picked up a knock off Boyd stock from a LGS for well under $100 and as with the other 5 no problems.
so, 6 guns and no problems with any of them.
i think a lot of that is due to the real good initial cleaning and polishing up of the bolt.
conclusion;
for $139 im very happy with my purchase.
here are some pics of how everyones builds ended up.
my 2 are still the same as above in the original post.
Old mans on a Hogue
co workers on a Ruger with a cheap optic
co workes on a Boyd with a compact scope (looks kinda strange to me, but he loves it)
looks like i miss placed my other co workers pic, ill have to dig around to find it.
