Rifle in 7,62x25

It would be a good cartridge for one of those small Mausers which get turned out from time to time.

I have heard of people doing workovers on Destroyer Carbines, but really don't like that idea. The rifle itself should be good enough, but Destroyers are scarce enough without butchering the few remaining specimens.

What is needed is someone to put the idea to Ruger, which has one of the best casting-shops in existence....... or for someone to design one from scratch, use a 3-D printer to make up the initial waxes for Body and Bolt and then pressure-cast a few hundred sets..... or else use some of this CAD/CAM technology which is coming down in price all the time and just chew 'em out of decent steel.

Steel is definitely the way to go on something such as this. Aluminum has its good points but it also has many liabilities when we are talking about pressure. As a close friend once said, "I don't trust anything that's made outta DIRT!"

Made from decent steel, there are also other alternatives to be considered. As an example, what about the Rimless Bee, a cute little CF .22 based on a Carbine casing? Anyone with regular Bee dies can form their own brass and you have a nice little coyote gun for 100 yards or so.

The best part, to me, is that you have what you want..... and you haven't wrecked a Destroyer!

Considering the milsurp ammo cooks along at 1500-1600fps out of a pistol, I suspect you'd be closing in on 2000fps (guessing) out of a handy little bolt action carbine. I think it would be a great centerfire gopher/rabbit gun with cheap like borscht ammo.

Have it take TT-33 mags (which a lot of us have a pile of), and you could have a real winner.

And Ruger can kiss my white Scottish @ss... Too much money for too little gun, across the board, with what they make nowadays. Just another "once was great" American gun maker I walk past in the gun store aisles. A CZ 527 would look mighty fine beside me in the Kubota driving around checking fences.

side note: Nice to see you posting again Smellie. Your knowledge and wisdom have been deeply missed around here.

Rock Island ARmoury make a little bolt rifle in .22 Tcm just what you want Smellie. The rest of us would have to rebarrel it or request a new chambering.

I use the chamber insert for 7.62x25 in my SMLE. It works well but getting the spent case out of the insert is slow and difficult.

At one point a while back Lever Arms had a couple M1 Carbines out of China converted to 7.62X25. They wouldn’t sell them unfortunately. Supposedly used carbine mags with a setback and re chambered barrel

I have always been of the opinion that a Savage Axis in .223 Rem. would be a natural for this type of a swap. Chamber a .30 cal. blank for that cartridge and make a magwell adapter to take the Tokarev magazines and Bob's your uncle.

I would Love get a bolt rifle in 7.62x25! Kind of like a bigger badder 221 Fireball! What a fun round to plink with cheap milsurp and even reloading! 308 bullets are easy to get!

If you’ve ever shot a Tokerav you’ll know that the amount of powder that is burnt outside the barrel is huge! Putting that potent round into a rifle to use all that powder would be something to behold! I wonder what kind of velocity we’d see with a 20” barrel.

Would love a semi auto ppsh 41, wonder if that's something westrifle could conjour up

The ppsh that was made by TNW has a restricted or NR FRT depending on barrel length.

There was a dealer who advertised them long ago, but even with the FRT approval we have yet to see it.

Been thinking how much fun a lever or bolt gun in 9mm would be. Something tube fed to keep the lines nice and slick but the 7.62 round sure would be slick in a rifle as well.

Unfortunately we will never see it. Tnw stopped making it years ago and sent all the tooling back. I think it was wiselites tooling that they used
I tried finding one in the US to import up here but have been unsuccessful so far. One day I will find one
