Rifle no longer chambers factory ammo

It looks pretty clean now and I have never seen flakey crap like that in a chamber and your round count is low I think ironcat might be right something was in there and you probably won't have that problem again. When I clean the barrel the carbon at the chamber mouth is always the last to go and sometimes I don't bother to get all of it but it never caused me a problem

NitwiT, you may not be able to remove that ring with IOSSO or JB's paste.

Carbon, after a heavy build up such as that in your photos is HARD, very hard.

It's likely harder than the abrasives in IOSSO OR JB's.

I had a similar situation with one of my own firearms a few decades back.

The powder back then, that I was using, was leaving a lot more crud in the chamber throat area and the bore than most of the powder does today.

I finally went to our local auto supply store and purchased some automotive bore cleaner and some carburetor cleaner to get rid of the build up.

It took a few days of soaking, with a saturated patch over the build up, but it softened the crud enough to break it all loose with a stainless steel bore brush.

I wouldn't normally put one of those stainless brushes through any bore by the way and haven't since.

I see by your photos that everything worked out well for you. Good on you for being persistent and approaching this issue with caution.

I've learned my lesson about carbon and now am very careful to look for the beginnings of such a build up whenever I clean my rifles.

The thing about carbon fouling, is that it polishes up very well and it's often difficult to notice, until there is a very visible build up or it causes issues.

Thanks for all that input guys, as of this moment, the ring is gone for sure, and probably was a while ago... facepalm. I ended up on a post on longrangehunter or something and saw a thread where someone was dealing with the same thing. He was bright enough to run the borescope both from the barrel end, and the chamber end. See attached videos for the status of my rifle...

This video is from the muzzle end of the rifle, showing the black ring I have been trying to remove:

This video is from the chamber end of the rifle, showing how shiny clean the rifle is..

Next step is back to the range, and see how many rounds I can go before its back again. I'm going to try get a borescope video every 10 shots or so, try track the build up

Thanks again to all for the inputs and suggestions.
