Rifle Painting

In the Gulf War I (and a few previous desert conflicts), the British SAS painted their Landrover 110s pink for desert use. The vehicles blended in with the desert enviroment quite well!!!!!!. The vehicles were known as the "Pink Panthers".....;)

It's true, and it goes all the way back to the SAS in ww2 -and we're talking pink. Check out this pic: http://www.4wdonline.com/Museums/BMIHT/PiCs37/PinkPanther.jpg
I doubt very many of you will be following that example on your guns though ;)

I collect the "Military Machines International" magazine and they have quite a few pics of the Pink Panthers over the course of several issues.:D

Now having your gun painted pink, well that another story..........We'll leave that to Rohann......... :D :p

I want to do a Black/Grey digital paint job on my next rifle, but how do you do the digital camo look? just cut stickers and then grab the rattle can?

I used overhead projector film and cut my own stencils, tracing the patterns from CADPAT/MARPAT uniforms. Youy could use "rattlecans", but an airbrush is the better way to go for most patterns.

LS: Looks really nice, even with the shotty lighting!

SKBY: Damn! You do a really nice job! And yes, I don't think McDonalds pays enough, but luckily I don't work for them ;). Oh and I'm buying some paint this weekend, will let you guys know how it turns out. Do you guys think I should go with pink, or with more of a magenta:rolleyes::p?

I LOVE fuscia;)!....JOKING!
Depending on whether or not I figure out how to do this properly, I may or may not have the rifle painted in a BC-environment kind of camo. If not, then it'll just stay black. Or maybe fuscia if I'm in the mood .

PS: Thanks for making me feel comfortable enough to come out of the closet guys :).

Yeah we'll see. I'd like a custom n 260, but that's alot of dineiros i dont have(right now anyways)

What mag system do you use on your rifle(the one you just repainted)?
The mag system is a custom one done by GrensVegter.Based off of an m14 mag.

Okay enough of that ### crap:).

So if I screw up a paintjob and have to re-do it, how would I remove it without damaging anything?

LS: Is that the rifle you're using for the match?

not sure how the pro's do it but i generaly use brake clean on a rag takes the paint off but leaves the blueing intact *oil throughly after stripping*

Oh ok cool. (This may sound like a stupid question) So for clarification, if I paint the rifle and remove the paint to re-do it, will the matte finish be removed as well?

Thats pretty much exactly what I want :)
I'll have to do that to my next rifle, I still want a nice 338 lupa sometime here.
Might have to send that one to you though if you still paint them :)
Maybe a jsut black and white or something.

Dont really need to blend into the range, lol Doubt I will do any hunting with it, and if I do it will be far enough that camo wont matter.

The initial finish will be just fine, to remove Krylon, use MEK(Methylethelketone) and a rag and it will wipe off.
Oh ok great, thanks. So that won't do any sort of damage to the scope or rifle at all? I just want to be very sure before I do something like this.

just mask off the numbers, close the butler caps and tape up the ejection port( leave the bolt in)
