I'm in it for the game meat, not so much the trophy.
For southern Sask I would find a nice flat shooting medium sized rifle in the 270 or 7mm range and go hard, don't feel you NEED a magnum by others opinions, accuracy trumps all!!
I'm looking to get into hunting, and I'm wondering what the advantages of hunting with a rifled shotgun and slugs are over hunting with a rifle.
there is no advantage. a rifle is the proper tool for the job.
however, for people who are limited to a shotgun-only season, modern rifled shotguns are the next best thing.
WHAT???? What ever happened to the 7mm-08 or 308 short action recomendation? My vote goes there! and now with the 260 added! Kelly???
Shotguns for moose in BC is not legal, not sure about the other provinces?Depends on terrain, if your hunting deer or moose in heavy cover a shotgun is not a disadvantage, if you hunt the open long range then a rifle is better. Give us a little more info when you want opinions and advise.
