rifles in 6.5 Creedmore?

That’s pretty interesting. You basically are admitting that you are so feeble minded that you can’t control your reaction to someone posting about a cartridge nickname on the internet.

Your spin...

Well, I tire of this pointless "tit-for-tat." I have titted my last tat... you take care Mr. Gatehouse, I wish you the best in your future endeavors.

US military says 6.5 Creedmoor doubles their chance at a hit at 1000 yards over 7.62

That's not ne saying it before anyone loses their $h*t on me.

Damn. Guess that makes it a people hunting gun now.

It may double someone's chances, but if they could never hit a target at that range with a 308........0x2 still equals zero.

For my own personal ethics it's 338 lapua or 50bmg if I am going to take an animal at long range. That is my own personal ethics, an animal deserves my best, if I am not at the top of my game that day it walks. Taking a poke at big game a 1000yds away with a 6.5cm just isn't responsible imho

Hell no that's not responsible. Creed was not designed for that at all. It was designed to punch holes in paper at less distance than that. I don't think most people have any business trying anything over 400 yards for game.

It exploits high bc bullets. It has to. It's a low velocity, low recoil paper puncher that has not revolutionized the killing of game. Sorry.

Except those of us who shoot at animals under 500 yds away are apparently a dying breed, so we should all get a Creedmoor and become real hunters.

You may be surprised to hear this, but the 6.5 Creedmoor also works well on critters under 500. I used mine to fill a Mule Deer tag last year... at ~100 meters. Worked good. About like the 308 or 708, or even my old faithful 30-06. 😉

Well, this is the hunting section, so I wouldn't want someone to get the wrong idea with 1000yd talk

Yeah, I get what the 6.5CM can do, I just don't get the hype over it when we've had the 260 Rem for 20+ years. And no, I don't buy the theory it's somehow superior to the 260.

I suppose it comes down to marketing and a cool name.

You are 100% correct about that not much has improved in decades. Most "new" cartridges existed years ago in one form or another. All hype. But Hornady did a good job its here to stay.

Haha. I see alot of hunters in late summer and fall at the range getting ready. 200 is too far for most 2 weeks of the year shooters.

Hype is partly perspective I guess. Just did a quick scan of this sub-forum. I only saw one 6.5 Creedmoor thread in the first 3 pages. This one- and half the posts are by the 'haters'. There are way more threads on Win 1894s and Tikkas. :)

Remington completely bungled the introduction and support of the 260. I doubt the 6.5 Creedmoor would have even been introduced if they hadn't.

Maj of hunters are happy if they can hit an 8" plate at 100yds from what I have seen, forget about actually seeing them dial it in, anywhere on paper is good to go. These are the same guys who shoot a white tail doe 3 or 4 times with a 300win to get the job done

I like to see 1moa or better out of a hunting rifle, .5 or better on anything I plan to shoot long

Remington built the 260 Rem for hunters. And its worked wonderfully with low bc hunting bullets. At hunting ranges.
Not for long range snipers turned 600-700 yrd hunters however. The creedmoor and Hornady enabled every Chris Kyle wannabe to throw lead at ranges previously unimaginable. Because it sold guns and ammo. Not because it was a better solution to the previous solution.

Wow. It's way more complicated and involved than I thought. Watching CGN, it appeared Hornady introduced the Creed just to twist grumpy old men & 260 fans into knots. 😋

Who are the "haters?"

If you are including me in that group, you've got it wrong... I think it is a pretty good cartridge design... I'm just not drinking the Kool-Aid.

I don't have any hate for the Creedmoor, I just have no use for it. I mainly use my 223, 308, 257 Wby, and 7mm RM. I don't see the need to shoehorn a CM into that group, the 257 is superior in all respects. :d

I suppose I shouldn't take CGN as the gospel truth for popularity of a cartridge. Case in point, I never hear about the 375 Ruger outside of this forum.
