But what animals and at what ranges does the poster intend to shoot them at is what I would want to know. How much energy is left in it at 800yds? Why not a 338 or 50 that can handle wind better......for me, here in bc, shooting those distances you are likely going to have multiple wind directions in the bullets path to the animal with our peak and valley terrain

Hi Jim, he doesn't mention powder? RL26?

The creedmoor is obviously inadequate if there are groups needing to load it beyond where it was intended.
Probably a big reason for so many for sale in in EE.
Guys getting into the 270 Winchester. Or 30-06. Real hunting cartridges.

At 800 yards it will have 1280 ft/lbs. at 500 yards it still had 1780.

For the creedmoor the 6mm version is looking more attractive now. Maybe go 6.5 prc if you want 6.5mm

To eek the full potential from the PRC you’re into a long action.

Good point. I’ve never seen a 270 owner load his pet to the red line.

I think we will see the 22-250 get displaced by the 22 CM in the years to come.
If the gun makers offered a fast twist 22-250 there would be little need for the CM other than being "new & exciting". If they stay the present course, I think you'll be right.

A friend here in SJ has a 6mm250AI, which in some respects offers some of the same advantages that a 6.5CM offers.
