I recently purchased a rifle and upon running a patch (cotton) through the bore noticed it very slightly snags... upon inspection with a bore light there is a very small burr in the rifling about midway down the barrel. The burr is axial and does not protrude towards the ID of the barrel. The rifle shoots fine with no issues and I only noticed the burr because the cotton patch slightly catches it as it passes but does not get stuck. Is there a way to fix this or should I not bother as there is no function issues?

Thanks.

It shoots fine with no issues. What are you going to fix? Will it continue to shoot fine after you alter the bore?

I've got a rifle with a few pits in the barrel and if I clean it really well it shoots terrible but if I neglect it the pits fill up with copper and power residue and it shoots perfect. The only way to fix it is to replace the barrel and I'm not about to do that. If it shoots good just forget about it and enjoy it.

Any burr on the rifling would be removed with the very first shot fired. Rule Number One applies. If it works, don't fix it.
