The two big local shops (russells and whole sale) have had almost no rimfire ammunition in stock and it has been like this for at least 6-8 months. They gave some lame excuse for a factory shutting down. But I have not heard of any where but here having a shortage. What is the supply like where you are?

The present supply at Wal*Mart is Winchester .22 Xpert hollow points (.22 LR) brick of 500 rounds for $13 something plus tax.I called my local Canadian Tire but they don't sell bricks only 50 or less rounds per box.

Lots around here.
I've been buying up any reasonable priced PMC Scoremaster since PMC is dropping their rimfire line - got 4 or 5 bricks lately.
Al Simmons in Hamilton, On has bricks of Lapua Club, PMC Scoremaster, PMC subsonic, Winchester T22, Federal Gold Match, American Eagle, Remington Subsonic, Remington Target, Federal bulk pack, and a few others I can't remember.

Speaking of which, Al Simons has their Lapua Club priced at $39.95, cheaper by a couple of dollars than North Silva's new price list.

depends on the wal-mart as well there's usually a brick or 2 at the macleod trail, more at southpoint, and usually the north end stores have lots- it's just that it's that stupid other stuff and not good old dynapoint- almost nobody in calgary buys rim at wsl or russels- it's overpriced- if worse comes to worse and you can't find any, try the shooting edge- they usually have at least some to feed the range babies

I must be a little cursed most of my 22's do not like any of the winchester bulk pack. My #2 gun really likes yellow jackets (have not seen some since last spring), and I like the on pd performance. The back up semi like's federal bulk pack (No problem there), killing power is a litle questionable, the HP is too small. Good for plinking though

I have got a 10/22 on the way so that is to be determined.

And the marlin 917 likes Federal (Hornady and Remington) but Federal is the cheapest but that has been rare too.

that sounds more like your guns are fussy, not an ammo supply problem- that's a whole different ball of wax- the rugers have a reputation for eating almost anything fed to them- that's why they're so popular - they were cheap at one time too- as to fussy, that depends on the gun- i've got a beretta that won't feed anything but wildcats- the norc 93 will eat anything thrown its way-

Is there a Walmart in Calgary that is better stocked than the others, every time I have been in the one on Southland the inventory was not particularaly good.

If all you have is Wal*Mart & Canadian Tire, maybe you could order a few bricks from someone that'll ship to you.

try southpoint (midnapore ) or anything other than that one- it's run by an anti-gun woman who only re-orders once or twice a year- deerfoot mall usually has some- when i'm in that store( the one on macleod and southland) i just check one in a while and get it if it's there- other than that i don't bother - think they transferred her in from toys or something , but she's flaming anti-gun

Yeah as far I know that's all there is in Dartmouth/Halifax because when I look in the local Yellow Pages under "guns" there are about 5 home based businesses or tiny shops but everytime you call them noone answers the phone and as I recall there are addresses in their ads.I like to support mom & pops business but I am pretty sure they cannot match or beat Wal*Mart's prices for $13 or so for 500 rounds of .22LR's.

I bought three bricks of CCI mini-mag hollow points from Russells just last Friday. The guy working the counter kept trying to convince me to leave some for the next guy, but I'm from outta town. Whoops!

why?- your money's as good as somebody else's- with the gopher popoulation around there i'd be buying by the case when i got to town-

Aulrich, you're worrying me, I'm almost outa rimfire and my stevens in 223 isn't here yet. The gophers are going to win this time.

I just burned through a box of those Federal Champions.. No problems in any of my .22's, pretty accurate and consistent.
