Rimfire shooters in the Calgary area

Awesome guys, thanks for all the replys!!!!
I hate only shooting 25yds indoors and most of the time, end up besides a guy shooting his .308.
Anyway I'm a cheapskate and like shooting outdoors and at longer distances.
All I ask is,
1, Coming onto my property, you will not hold me legally responsible for any injuries that may happen,
2, If I feel that you are being unsafe, I will ask you to leave,
3, Clean up after we shoot.
Other than that, we're golden!!!!!!
Hope for warmer weather ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Andrew

Cool Beans.

Wow guys, all are welcome!!!! Please for awhile we will keep it rimfire only until we have a few get togethers under out belts.
I have a archery target set up 178yds from my front porch that I use all the time. Shooting 178yds in 20+km wind is crazy tough.
If you guys could please send me an e-mail, that way I can message you all quickly.

I'd be very intrested as well. Next gun I was going to pick up was a 22, as soon as I get back in town amd get all moved into the new house. Think it would be way more fun outside then at the range.

I'm in. Was just thinking of something like this. 10/22 here. Enjoy modding, talking about gear and accessories. Sent you an email. Looking forward to getting out there

I'd be interested. Have five or six pieces if 1/4 inch plate cut into about 12" circles I punch holes in them with the 30/06 and hang them with mechanics wire works great shoot them with the sks as well tons of fun. They are scraps from my welder friends c&c machine. I usually end up out by burnt timber but would love to find something closer.

I'd definitely be interested! I think it's awesome you took the initiative to set something like this up!

I have a large mild steel 3/8" plate on a swinging hinge that I use for longer range centre fire that should work fantastic for 100 yd rim fire. I'll post so,e pictures later.

Well, managed to score some good material for some small targets. We had a whole bunch of 4-1/2" diameter 4140 cutoffs, ranging from 1" to 1-3/8" thick, which I will saw or part off into 3/8" to 1/2" thick plates. That should make for some pretty darn good "precision" targets.

Awesome. I have a small and large angle grider and a new bench grinder for our target making. If you guys can bring scrap metal and any wielding/plasma cutting tools it would be helpful.
The next warm weekend, I'll message all of you!
Anyone else interested?

for sure.. I'm also thinking of bringing a big box of clays and setting up targets that could hold a clay. Nothing like seeing something break apart when shooting it!

So, at work we just a got a new lathe and it came crated/paleted on a whole bunch of structural steel. The whole thing is welded together an needs to come apart. I'm going to try and strike a deal with my boss: if I can get rid of it, I can keep type thing, and would need some help with the disssasemly. Would any o y'all be able to drop by the southeast (south of glenmore on 68th) with power tools to take it apart?

I can help after 3pm on Thursday. Would be a long drive from Cochrane but worth it to help out a shooter!
Please message me with details and a number.
Thanks Andrew

Can you post a pic of the stand? I just want to be able to see what you are up against. Is it possible to load it into a pickup truck and then strip it at home?

I may have spoken a little too soon about this. Apparently the Boss has some idea for it's use and isn't quite yet ready to part with it. I figured it would just end up in the scrap bin, but was apparently wrong. However, there may still be some parts that we can have. The main structure, as is, is far to large to fit in a pickup truck. It's about 12 feet long and 8 feet wide, and probably a metric ton on its own. Some of the smaller structures are still fairly long, but skinny enough to fit into a large pickup without much issue. I think they want to turn the main structure into a storage unit, or a make a smoke-shack for poor weather, though I can't see the small frame being used for much. I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them, and maybe I can wrangle something from him. If worse comes to worse and he won't part with it for for our work in hauling it, he may be willing to sell it at scrap rate. Even if it was a few hundred dollars, it would yield a few dozen fairly large (and heavy duty) target stands. Certainly more if we made smaller frames.
